we woke up to some of that nice dry snow this morning, though only a couple inches.

was there anything from your gear lists, that you didn't end up needing? except of course the camera, which from this angle was appreciated”

what's your bag and what's it rated and was it really -10 and are you a hot sleeper or cold and what were you wearing and how did you do?”

“lee - my bag is a Marmot Lithium, rated at 0. I am a cold sleeper. Sun morning, it was 4 above at 8:30, so we estimated that it was minus 10 Sat night. I used a vapor barrier liner inside my bag, and my shelter was an ID Unishelter Event bivy. I slept on the snow, not in the lean-to. I wouldn't say I was toasty warm, but comfortable.

Friday night wasn't as cold, maybe high single digits to low teens, and I had to slide out of the vbl because I was too warm.”

Havent seen ya sinse the FYAO last winter. I still giggle about breaking trail in that deep snow when yer tobogan kept diggin on the up hills. Had a great time .
I've been trying to find out what's happnin this year. Can't find the thread ( snow I can handle, chat lines are out of bounds sinse my little problem)

“no end in sight, but who knows. Maybe next week, next month.

I've had to cancel some long distance trips, but I'm getting in some local xc skiing.”

“skied on the bay beach, yesterday, the terrain uneventful though nice view and pooch could run off leash.

“skiing on the beach must be a blast. I'm new to xc and the rolling hills are a heckuva workout.

I picket every 3 days for 6 hours. I build an awesome barrel campfire.”

“that's fer sure. If you saw the picture of me in the paper, I was wearing the big ole down parka, Mountain Hardwear hat, and winter bibs. I looked weird, but a warm weird.”
