I'd make sure the bottle is almost full when using it to keep the center of gravity low.

lumberzac, it says to do that at the store front where you order it. I usually take a water bottle with me. It is a lot lighter than a nalgene

Depending on the location of the center of gravity of your camera, it may not matter how much water you have in the bottle. If it's far enough to one side, it may tip over anyway.

I bought a cheap small tripod at Big Lots that I use. No tipping, and I can strap it to my hiking pole.
