The recent reform of our intelligence agencies didn't have enough support from Republicans to win, but it would have passed with existing Democratic votes. The Republicans refused to vote on it until it was a Republican majority that voted for it. Republicans would rather kill a bill supported by the majority of Americans and representatives than involve the Democrats in governing. The only role Democrats have right now is to oppose bad bills. So, get to governing Republicans. We are interested in seeing what happens.” 2:52:19 PM 1/30/05 “Have a plan. Saying any plan will not pass through Congress is no excuse. I have not seen a plan by Democrats. I don't think the intelligence reforms had much support from Democrats.” 2:57:46 PM 1/30/05 “The only role Democrats have right now is to oppose bad bills. reformed lurker 2:52:19 PM 1/30/05 Democrats have been playing this role for four years. America needs new ideas and plans for solving problems. Democrats have spent the last four years stuck in the 'Election was Stolen' mentality. There are moderate Democrat's with ideas, but the left wing leaders of the Democratic party have imposed an agenda of attack. You guys need leaders with ideas.” 3:07:36 PM 1/30/05 “Social Security doesn't need a plan. It needs a president that can balance a budget and create a surplus so we can use the system as it was intended.” 1:49:48 AM 1/31/05 “Funny how the folks that claim to have voted based upon ‘values’ issues have no problem with a cabinet filled with liars and psychopaths. Pretty twisted values if you ask me.” 10:04:07 AM 1/31/05 “Anyone ask Violin? No? OK, there ya go V. LOL!” 10:12:47 AM 1/31/05 “viOliN calling peeps 'liars and psychopaths', now THAT'S funny! LOLOLOLOLOLOL” 10:33:07 AM 1/31/05 “Well even if that's true SS, "it takes one to know one." ;op The election looks like a success Turnout wise - that's a good thing for the future. But the country is still a mess in terms of the insurgency which was allowed to develop and grow stronger. If groups emerge from Iraq like AQ did following the Russian invasion of Afganistan, then America certainly won't be safer. All this at the cost of $300 billion dollars. I don't see the righties whining too much about this as they normally do when complaining about paying taxes for things like education.” 11:43:07 AM 1/31/05 it takes one to know one “Exactly, Y2! LOL” 12:18:15 PM 1/31/05 “Why do all the doom and gloomers look at a tiny portion of Iraq (5%) which is unstable, the Triangle, and assume the whole country’s a mess?” 12:25:41 PM 1/31/05 “As this tiny fraction caontains Bagdhad maybe Nigal. It's like saying terrorists didn't attack on 9/11 as only NY and DC were hit. They represent less than 5% of America. And I thought the figure was closer to 20%. The proportion of Sunnis?” 12:30:52 PM 1/31/05 “No, it's nothing like saying that.” 12:36:39 PM 1/31/05 “of course it is. You can't take the Capital and largest city out the equation and dismiss what's happening there, saying apart from that everything is fine. It's exactly like ignoring the largest city, NY, and Capital City DC, and saying apart from there Islamic terrorists have never hit America.” 12:45:57 PM 1/31/05 y2 “Apparently it is ok to do the opposite. Report on 5% of the country having problems and make no mention of the other 95%.” 12:48:19 PM 1/31/05 “I don't know. I read in lots of places that the problems are largely restricted to the Sunni Triangle. Don't know what you've been reading.” 12:49:36 PM 1/31/05 “HAHAHAHA, Good one.” 12:51:02 PM 1/31/05 “No that is NOT what I was saying and no matter how many different ways you say it you can’t change what I said. But going on your line of thinking it would have been OK to say that when Washington and NYC got attacked that the whole country was going to hell in a handbasket. That wasn’t the case and neither is trouble in the Triangle mean the whole country is a mess as the doom and gloomers make it out to be or wish it to be.” 12:55:24 PM 1/31/05 “Nigal - You're just changing your emphasis here to suit a positive view of the situation in Iraq. Anyhow this is a victory for democracy. But I wouldn't go counting chickens just yet.” 2:16:35 PM 1/31/05 ““Nigal - You're just changing your emphasis here to suit a positive view of the situation in Iraq." No I'm just trying to give credit to those who are actually over there doing the job and trying to show that it isn't ALL bad.” 2:22:04 PM 1/31/05 “No you're not. You're trying to put a positive spin on the Administration's often poor decisions. You perhaps need to be able to seperate the wonderful efforts and sacrifices being made by the soldiers in the line of fire in Iraq, and the decisions made and lies told by those that sent them there while they sit in Washington, (drinking and #&%!$ing each other in DC on Inauguration night, paying little more than lip service to the troops) having never been put in war situation themselves. Whatever the outcome of the elections, the troops were told they were defending America from a threat, not spreading Freedom. However worthy the cause there would not have been support for an invasion had the American people been told that Saddam never posed a real threat to America. What really sickens me is the concept that supporting the troops involves blindly following whatever the President says. The best way to support the troops is not to lie to them, and to question a leaders motives and decisions to make sure they are not being led into danger unless it is absolutely necessary. But once you've invaded Iraq I do hope things go well, even if it involves wishing success for an ill-conceived plan for a pre-emptive invasiop of Iraq. With the administration playing such a high-stakes game with the thousands and even hundreds of thousands of lives in the future, the consqunces of failure are too high to contemplate. And we're not out of the woods yet.” 2:39:06 PM 1/31/05 “Wow, I said all that? Did someone take over my body and post that without me knowing about it? What I said was... “Why do all the doom and gloomers look at a tiny portion of Iraq (5%) which is unstable, the Triangle, and assume the whole country’s a mess?” Nigal 12:25:41 PM 1/31/05 I have kept my statments simple and clear yet for some reason I'm not saying what you want me to say so you get a case of diaria of the mouth and try to twist, turn and shove your own words and assumptions down my throat. Sorry. Swing and miss. Now on yer bike Wally.” 2:44:58 PM 1/31/05 “lol - like most Cons you seem to base your opinions on half-truths peddled by the Administration though. These assumptions and broad statements need to be challenged. Of course the focus is on what's going wrong. Bombs are going off frequently, large numbers of people are dying. That, by the way the world works, is going to attract all then attention. But if you look at the election coverage for example, people are prepared to see things postively when good things happen.” 2:48:29 PM 1/31/05 “"like most Cons you seem to base your opinions on half-truths peddled by the Administration though." Talk about your broad statements... Good gravy man, are you like, ADD or something? You're all over the map dude. Just because someone isn't this cynical, pessimist person with a storm cloud over their head doesn't mean they have their head in the sand. I'm a positive person by nature. The fact that you took exception to my being critical of the doom and gloomers shows something.” 2:57:36 PM 1/31/05 “Which bad decisions in Y2 refering to? Sounds like a blanket statement that we have heard for years.” 5:18:27 PM 1/31/05 “ ”11:00:58 AM 2/01/05 “I'm afraid Condi couldn't tell the truth to save her a$$.... Did I actually hear her utter the classic "mistakes were made" line? Mistakes? What mistakes? And by Whom? Where's that pic of her with the helicopter hair?” 11:37:20 AM 2/01/05 “BBW Bad decisions. Poor planning for post invasion Iraq. Not enough troops to secure the country following the initial invasion. Failure to provide basic services to much of the country, such as electricity. Failure to secure oil pipelines and get oil flowing in enough quantity to offset some of the $300 billion being poured into the country. A complete failure to find WMDs. A desire to invade too soon with the aim of being done before the 2004 election, hindering international support. The alienation of potential allies due to hamfisted, bullying diplomacy. A failure to quell insurgents. The failure to capture Bin Laden due to only 11,000 troops committed to Afganistan and 150,000 committed to Iraq, which didn't pose a threat to America..... need I go on? Even if you think invasion was right, which I reluctantly agreed with once the administration drew the line in the sand - as you can't turn back from once it's drawn - the whole thing could have been handled in a far less reckless gung-ho way. Maybe if they'd put Powell in charge of reconstruction instead of the arrogant and unaccountable Rumsfeld, then things might have turned out better and thousands less American soldiers may be alive or not missing limbs.” 12:01:12 PM 2/01/05 “http://img161.exs.cx/img161/7005/whatdoyoumean9bz.jpg -------------- parrot want a cracker? Where was she during the campaign? hmmmmmm?” 5:57:02 PM 2/01/05 “Y2, What kind of utopian environment were you expecting to happen in Iraq. What standard do you use to make such statements? All the whining and finger pointing was done by people who had no alternative plan and willfully ignore reality. What should have been done differently?” 6:07:14 PM 2/01/05 “What was real again? The WMD's? The threat of Saddam against the US with his lack of a sufficient Navy and no inter continental missiles? How about that collaboration between Iraq and Al Qaeda even though they never actually collaborated in the sense of the word "collaboration"?” 6:18:59 PM 2/01/05 “I thought I was watching a satire of Kerry on 'Meet the Press'. He was bumbling and stumbling on every topic. I need to find a transcript.” 6:27:46 PM 2/01/05 “He was bumbling and stumbling on every topic. Kinda like listening to Bush talk, bbw?” 7:42:35 AM 2/02/05 “Letterman showed some of the interview. “But, but, wha, duh…”.” 8:21:39 AM 2/02/05
