Upper I-O-Wanna Canoe/Kayak Trip, June 3 -5

“I added the Twin part cause he's not local. Liz we should float the St Croix as long as we are fairly close to each other. Or I could show you a little river not too many people float that is great for a six hour trip. Of course we have all kinds of rivers in N WI to hit... Oh well more trips than time I guess..”

SquirrelBait, one of the TTers had a trip on the Namekagon last May. Lots of people are up for canoe/kayak trips. Even me... and I don't swim and just sit there petrified all... well maybe HALF... the time.

“Then you should try the Brule. That is the only river in WI with good rapids, although very short. I like the Kinnikinnic for a nice short float. Get on it after work and be done before dark. I was wrong when I said 6 hours, I meant 6 miles, only takes 2 hours. Excellent fly fishing along the way and an interesting 90 degree turn against a cliff. Lots of fun when the water is fast.”

“Don't rule me out yet, Lizs. I'm registerd for classes but if I don't get at least a loan, I'll have to drop the Summer courses. $232.60/credit hour is pretty pricey! Not to mention fees. Of course, I'm hoping to be going to school but as yet, it's still tentative.”

I'm 45 minutes North of there..I'm not a whitewater kayaker as my kayak is a Folbot, folding kayak..I've considered the Kinnikinnic but didn't know much about it...I should've bought Paddling Southern Wisconsin at Canoecopia..thought I already had it but, I don't:(

I still need to find my own SCP (is that like a flotation device??? LOL), although I think Pros had a decent enough experience that he just might do it again. LOL!”

“LOL, we are leaning towards renting a car for the weekend anyway. With both of us flying in, and the travel restrictions on some gear, several stops for supplies will be needed.

And this WAS the river where the guy was saved from drowning when the rope tied to the cooler (hauling the beer) behind the canoe wrapped around his neck and pinned him underwater.

“It's actually any area of Wisconsin, WI doesn't like speeders that much and if you speed they are gonna bust you. One of the reasons she left the Troopers is because of the quota system that really does exist, even though no cop will tell you that.”
