“Gem, I agree. I didn't use any drugs for either of mine. That was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. But now anything else is a cake walk in comparison.”

it may was the hardest thing what u have ever done...but do you still remember how painful it was? I don't. U forget about the pain.

Have you ever carried around a kicking Godzilla? i haven't but can't imagine saying "oooh, this feels wonderful".”

“I can't bring the memory of the pain, no. But I am aware that at the time I thought to myself, "Just kill me and put me out of my misery. This really hurts." (Maybe that's why I tolerate blisters and pain relatively well.)



On that note, one time a group of us were sitting around chatting about plane crashes. My sister-in-law was there, and she was 9 months pregnant with her first. She was planning to do her labor naturally, but she was very nervous about it. Without even thinking, I blurted out, "I'm not afraid to die in a fiery plane crash. That would be nothing after having gone through childbirth with no drugs." I'll never forget the look of horror on her face.


But even after having done one birth sans drugs and knowing how much it was going to hurt, I went back and did it again.”

“I know of two pains men & women can have that equal and sometimes go beyond that pain, one I experienced myself.

One is cluster headaches. The other is letting a serious medical condition go until it hurts to stand and you are hours away from a life & death situation

My specialist (Mother of two) made the comparison after examining me.

“I have been saying all throughout my wife's pregancy that I would love to experience what she is feeling.

She has said all along that DRUGS are good, when it comes to the birth process. I have no problem with this. I want her to be as comfortable as possible.

I on the other hand, don't mind pain. I think I would doo it without the medication.”

My hand raised too fast for human eyes.”

Bearmagnet, if you read the article the mother said she had no idea how big the baby was. Being that this big guy is her 4th kid, it seems like being pregnant with him wasn't much different than her other pregnancies which produced much lighter babies. So still no "ouch" about it.”

“As a victim of induced labor that failed, with a resulting emergency C-section, some of those drugs are helpful in the very short term. After being in hard contractions for over 12 hours, I recieved an epidural wg=hich, hands-down, is the single most painful experience of my #&%!$ing life. I still have twinges in my spine because of that #&%!$er, and I don't want another one. That, and after the drugs wore off, I about scratched myself out of my skin and almost popped the staples, because I got a little "side effect" in addition to the extreme hurling the morphine-based drug caused. A C-section is a breeze. I just don't want the drugs again. I'll take the pain, thank-you.”

“God treebait! That sounds really awful!!! Sounds like they really messed up your epidural!”

“When our daughter was born, the guy who gave the epidural was a real bastard and kept telling her to keep her back curved, even when she was having contractions. He kept poking her and hitting something (A nerve I guess) that would make her legs jerk, and then he'd shout at her for moving. #&%!$. The SOB did finally get the tube in though.

The second time was a lot easier, that guy was a real pro.”

“Yep, Bit, sounds something like what I had, except the epiduralist was polite. They told me to curl up in a ball. Well, how the #&%!$ do you do that during really severe contractions? Hm?”

“The worst part was I couldn't tell him to go #&%!$ himself, because I was afraid that they'd boot me out of the hospital and I'd miss my first child's birth.
