Phishing emails not from eBay

I have received a number of phishing emails alleging to be from eBay, saying my account would be suspended and I should click on a link to update account information.

Being aware that phishing emails have been out there, I went to eBay and contacted them. They have confirmed that the messages are spoofs, or phishing, and that one should not respond to them. It's an identity theft fraud.

Just thought I'd pass the warning on in case somebody else gets these.

Do not reply to the message. If in doubt, to the eBay website, scroll down to the bottom, and there is a security link there. That will guide you through a few steps. You can paste a copy of the email in and ask whether it is legit or not.

EBay does not ask for account information in emails.

It's not just eBay. I've received three from different legitimate sounding companies requesting that I send in info or be purged from their list.

I report all phishing emails to eBay. They claim that the investigate each one. Maybe they can put some of them out of business.

I got one like that about a month ago. I had to laugh because I haven't bought anything from ebay in over 3 years.

Oh, shoot. I clicked on pink's link and burned out my whole computer. At least I was able to give them my driver's license, social security, and credit card numbers before it blew up.

That's what happens..... put a "don't touch" button on something and someone will inevitably touch it....

Bowlder, hope you like your push up bra--I know... it lifts and separates....

Anything I get from eBay I automatically forward to spoof@ebay.com. I have one email address on eBay, and if anything comes from "eBay" to any other email address of mine, I know it's spam/phishing. AutoForward to the spoofing address at eBay.
