I use a windscreen but not 360 degree, I open it up some to allow for the heat build-up.” 7:21:01 PM 1/24/05 “I don't know how true this is, but I read that you burn 20% more calories standing than sitting. So if you start feeling cold around camp maybe just standing up might help a bit.” 7:27:50 PM 1/24/05 “Continuing the winter camping theme, I was just on a good winter camping trip, with my college Winter Camping Class. PHotos at http://patentpending.blogs.com/photos/winter_camping_05/index.html I hit the hot springs at 11:00PM, before bed, and again at 6:30 AM, after my igloo partner woke me up. Hot springs and winter camping is heaven.” 1:24:31 PM 2/03/05 “excellent pictures. I am a little disappointed that no female decided to sit in the hot springs or wouldn't allow a picture to be taken. Nice igloos, I hope no one was inside while that guy was jumping up and down on top of it. last edited: 2/03/05 1:59:47 PM” 1:54:42 PM 2/03/05 “Ewker: knowing that this could be used as evidence at my termination hearing at BSU, I can assure you that swimming suits are absolutely required, and are always worn. And there are no photos that prove otherwise, and there are no witnesses, either.” 1:58:42 PM 2/03/05 “Hey, those are great pics! We're doing a Yellowstone trip in a couple weeks and I wanted to try to build a snow cave this year, but the igloo idea looks cool! I noticed the gear sled; I've got one made up just about the same except I didn't cross the poles.” 2:07:07 PM 2/03/05 “aero, the structures were actually quinzees, not igloos. We only had about 20 inches of snow, so these were the only sheltes that work in that little snow. We usually have 4-6 feet of snow in that area. A brief article about making quinzees is at http://patentpending.blogs.com/patent_pending_blog/2005/01/moss_man_1.html last edited: 2/03/05 2:25:25 PM” 2:16:27 PM 2/03/05 “Idaho Bob-- Great pictures! Although when you said "hot springs", I didn't envision an old enameled iron hot tub!!!” 2:48:40 PM 2/03/05 “This hot springs is a little different than most. There are about 8 old bath tubs next to a big rock, with boiling hot water bubbling out of a crack in the rock. You put a garden hose in the crack, fill your tub of choice, and add a few buckets of cold water from a nearby stream. Then as you soak in it, and it gradually cools, you top it off with hot. On a cold winter night, with no moon and a million stars, its pretty wonderful.” 2:54:22 PM 2/03/05
