I love Trail Talk for this reason:

message from techntrek being ignored

Phil, you've done a great job over the years, and even though I've yet to meet you, I appreciate all your hard work.

hobbit - Good point, but then I'll miss the announcement when techntrek steps in to pick up the pieces.

Love you Phil. You're just about like family.

Please don't be hard on techntrek. I usually respond to people to who submit photos with an estimate of when I think the next update will be. My estimates were not close ever since September.

I know what you mean Phil. The backpacker.com people were nasty about the photo site I kept for them. A lot of times they'd demand to have one of their photos changed very soon. The ones who wanted their pictures removed were the worse, one of those a**holes even threatened to sue me if I didn't take it down in three days. That's when I called it quits.

Well like Phil says... now that Matt has added all the picture features, we might be able to make a request that all TT'ers just transfer all their photos to thebackpacker, and let Phil phase his pages out. It was so incredibly nice for him to do it in the first place -- but we should be able to remove it, now that TT'ers can just do it all themself.

Like I said earlier...a photo thread with an HTML list of links to each TTers photo page. When you add yourself you just add your name to the bottom of the HTML list and repost it.

OK, Phil. Thanks for your reminder. It's so easy to throw stones, which really accomplishes nothing worthwhile.

techntrek - I previously checked out your links and hereby acknowledge that you do good work and and are very capable. I'll be happy to assist you here at any time. BTW, I love Baltimore. You are in a great area.
Best of wishes to you.

Some of the most brilliant capable people I know don't know how to treat people. Their abilities don't alter that fact.

Phil - thanks for your understanding. I know its a tough job.

hobbit - I treat people very well. I'm a deacon in my church. The people in a church don't invite you to become an ordained deacon if they think you are nasty.

As pointed out here - and many times all over the web - the written word tends not to convey the real message the writer intended.

Ever heard the advice that says "Measure 1000 times, cut once"? It's been my sad experience over the years that this advice could lend itself just as easily to the words we use. I'm not always successful at it, but I always try to measure my words carefully before I use them. Have you ever tried to "un-ring" a bell?
