I maintain all of them - and keep them up-to-date. As a volunteer. It isn't an easy job. My complaint is if you ask for updates (like I do for people that use my sites), you need to then put those updates up. He asked for updates and never used them.

So don't complain and call me names when I DO know what the job entails. Apology accepted any time you wish to post it.”

I understand your indignation, but I think the lack of regard for any personal details that may have entered into the equation is pretty telling.


I just called and left a message on his phone. No indication from his answering machine that anything is going on crazy in his life -- so my guess is still that he is doing research or presenting a thesis paper in Australia or something.

Phil teased us by requesting updates, and then wasn't responsible enough to complete his task. *Don't bother* meaning don't waste your time, cause Phil does not follow up on his word.

Reading your explanation, you obviously did NOT mean it that way, but like I said before, often the written word can be QUITE misleading. See why I and others were miffed?

Apologies for the delay in getting things updated and thanks to those who jumped in to give me the benefit of the doubt.

The truth is that over the last year I have become too busy to respond to updates in a timely manner. Another part of the problem is that with 325 contributors I have manually created 325 individual web pages with multiple images on most pages. This site has become very cumbersome to maintain. People changing trail names, for example, creates quite a ripple with file names. Some people have changed trailnames multiple times. Photo album links change all the time also.

In addition to that, over the years Matt has added features to TT and web-based photo albums have come into existence. These features can replace most parts of the Photo Page and do not depend on anyone to respond.

Consequently, after this update, new additions to the Photo Page will only be thumbnail images on the Thumbnail Page. From now on people are encouraged to post their trip photos in a TT Photo Album, at webshots.com, or at some other web-based photo album. You can put a link to your photo album in your TT profile.

Also, If dub would like to create a photo page and take things to the next level, he has my blessing. Perhaps Matt has some ideas in mind that would be better yet...I haven't inquired.

“Phil man, you're awesome. But as for taking it over and to the next level...I already did that on the other site and decided it wasn't worth the effort--so my hat's off to you for doing it so long. If you're done I think the best thing to do is create a picture thread with a list of names and links to pictures in people's albums. If you add your photo you simply copy the HTML for the entire list, add yours to the bottom, and boom.

And just for the record, I didn't know Phil ever posted and asked for more pictures. I was looking at the page and saw there hadn't been any updates for awhile and I hadn't seen the page mentioned in awhile, and I saw a bunch of new names on the board...so I thought I'd bring it up as it seemed to have been forgotten.”
