Private room & Bath near Percy Warner Park!
I am very excited about my new place. We are closing next month (Mid Feb.)and I would love to have a fellow backpacker/hiker/cyclist for a roomie. The place has a pool and clubhouse, the condo is terrace level with a 2nd floor balcony that faces the park. Lots of closets too. (If you have alot of gear you'll love the shelves in the adjacent storage room.) You can cross the street and be in the Park!
The room mate's share will be $450 and includes room, laundry use & utilites, except phone & cable tv. I have a friendly housecat. I am interviewing prospective folks over the phone first and then the space can be seen after I close on the 16th. Send me an email or post here if you are interested.

BELLE MEADE (Davidson County-Area 2) consists of estates and large homes, as well as surrounding Belle Meade Highlands an adjacent neighborhood with smaller and more modest dwellings. Belle Meade is totally residential bordered at the end of the boulevard by the lush Percy Warner Park, a city park, which has public golf courses, walking trails, picnic and wading areas near and in the Harpeth River, which trickles over rocks through the park. Close by is Cheekwood, the former estate of the founders of Maxwell House Coffee. This was built in 1929 as the Cheek family residence and was later donated to the state for an art gallery, botanical gardens, art education center, and a tea room serving daily lunches. The building restrictions in Belle Meade are maintained by the commissioners and ensure the integrity of the longstanding traditions of this area. Aside from churches and the country club and very few “grandfathered” multi-unit dwellings, this area consists of large single family estates and upscale homes.

Lee, thanks for the history lesson
I worked at a nursing home for the past year and was around alot of old people and old money, maybe that's my attraction to the area. At least it doesn't intimidate and it certainly will appreciate! Where are YOU from?

My little bit of Heaven
Really, any one who may be in the market to share please look at my profile and send an email through there. I don't need a lawn of my own, just a space to call home. I've been renting since 1980 and I could have owned something outright by now. Maybe I could help someone else that way with opening up a room instead of just turning it into an office. I left my rented townhouse of 7 years and shared a house for the past year to cut my expenses so I could make a home purchase. Glad I'm doing it, finally.

Let's all have a hike together once I move in,sounds like good neighbors already! What do you all think of that as a good roomie interview- "first you gotta hike with me, then we'll talk."

Just got my closing date confirmed as Feb 15th. Posting on a roommate finder service as well. Maybe the Nashville Scene too. I am happily packing boxes and looking forward to my move. I am looking for an outgoing person with an above average need for Cleanliness and a penchant for order over clutter. Another pet can be considered: e.g. cat, snake, bird, fish, lizard, tarantula, probably not a dog lover. I will not have furniture for the second bedroom, so that is a consideration for a roomie. Any one looking?

..."with an above average need for Cleanliness and a penchant for order over clutter."
That would eliminate me. I have too many activities to which I give higher priorities. Life is far too short. Good luck with your quest.

a little moral support
Thank you nowslimmer. Somehow I thought you were a homeowner yourself.
For me, order creates more free time. I am a feng shui enthusiast and not repressed or anything when it comes to housekeeping. It's like I never have to say "excuse the mess" when someone drops in for a visit, because I keep things organized anyway. I group like items together, easier to find when I have a moments notice for a backpacking trip.

Nashville is an awesome city. I lived there for 5 years and loved it. Percy Warner Park is nice too. Great place for a quick dayhike. The Mossy Ridge trail is very nice. You're also close to Radnor which is also good for a short dayhike. Nashville has to have the best restaurants of any city I have been too and the night life in the city is great too! I really miss Nashville, but I'm glad to be back in the land of my family and the land where I grew, Amish Country USA!

Using www.dictionary.com:

feng shui :- The Chinese art or practice of positioning objects, especially graves, buildings, and furniture, based on a belief in patterns of yin and yang and the flow of chi that have positive and negative effects.

chi :- syn: qi, chi, ki

ki :- the circulating life energy that in Chinese philosophy is thought to be inherent in all things; in traditional Chinese medicine the balance of negative and positive forms in the body is believed to be essential for good health

I participate in aikijutsu(defensive combate). We use ki. You can see Me. in action on Phil's Photo Page, if you scroll down.

Regarding Ki, could you take Blows like these? Our martial arts group is a member of Juko Kai International Traditional Japanese & Okinawan Martial Arts In aikijutsu we use things from each of the following areas of instruction:

karate
Tai-Ki
Combat-Ki
Toide
ju-jutsu
Sword
Kobudo/weapons
Ninpo

COMBAT KI involves developing the ability to take punishment like shown in "Blows like these." Those shown are from the first level. There are seven levels and the top one is fanstastic. As a point of interest, The Learning Channel’s Ultimate 10 Martial Arts named Professor Sacharnoski’s Combat Ki as the world’s 5th best ultimate martial art.

What Is Ki? - “Ki” or “Chi” is what the Japanese and Chinese cultures, respectively, call the life energy that flows through all living things. Without Ki, life cannot exist, for Ki is the “life force” itself. The belief in the human body as an energy driven organism is an ancient one.

Ki has come to be associated with aikido in many places, which is a subset of what we study. Here is one link I gathered from a search:

The Ki Manual

Anyway, it appears that we may have something in common in Ki or feng shui. I hope to meet you some day.

Stickmon & Nowslimmer
See, I've been dating younger guys lately stickmon. I believe I met you nowslimmer on a Smokies trip (Cosby trailhead)in 2003. You had pretty bad leg cramps as I recall and Katibug tried to help you out. We also got soaked on that trip the second night out. Anyway lets keep to the subject of finding a roomie with similar interests.

Radnor Lake and Percy Warner
Truly gems of Nashville. I have hiked all the trails at Radnor when I lived in South Nashville, and took my bike there as well. I am chomping at the bit to ride in Percy Warner, and explore more trails. I did the Mossy Ridge trail in January '03 with TTA folks. I'm from New York (city and state) and just really love this area. EarthNSky, if you come back to visit, give me a shout.

pass the word, I'll set up everything and the room will be available March 1. $400-450 is the share, depending on the final numbers at the closing.

Yes, thanks Ewker. Seems to me I was chasing her all over the Front Porch. From the name and the body building talk, I was thinking she was a male. Now I understand why she wants a neat roommate. Where's my checkbook? And how much was the rent for the room?

Actually, I'm experienced with that sort of thing. When I lived in Puerto Rico, I rented a bedroom from a woman and we shared her condo. It worked out good as our hours were different and each of us usually had the place to ourselves. Ha, I told my wife in Florida that I had found a place, etc. and that if a woman answered the telephone, it was just my roommate. Boy, did I have to do some fast talking. Later my wife came to visit and everything was OK. Wow, I had forgotten all about that incident in my life.

Moving after I close on the 15th
I am so ready to live there embear!! And thanks for sharing the memories from that Smokies trip. When I mentioned to my current employer that I was into Lightweight Backpacking she referred to "our like" as elitists! Add that to my list of titles..elite bodybuilder, cyclist, backpacker, etc.
Ewker, let me be the first to offer photos of myself for others in the future, okay?

As for the share of the condo, I estimate it would be $425-450 including utilities. There's a Washer/Dryer in the unit, LOTS of storage space and two full baths. @nd floor balcony is private and faces the park.I should be all settled by March 1 for a roomie. Send me an email if interested.
