Don't buy it on looks alone. If you want a man's suv, get a yj for a fraction of the cost. Then turn it into a true dream truck.

That is one ugly vehicle.

Go with the Xterra.

For those rugged southern Ohio roads with all that snow? ;) Or maybe for all that off roading you do? Mooohahahaha!

Admit it, you just like the way the nissan looks!

Feel free to tellme to shut up anytime Nigal. ;)

Shut up any time Nigal! LOL! Believe it or not it does snow down here. Even more dangerous is the ice we get. We have bounced around every idea to cut fuel costs but we come back to the fact that we want at least one 4WD. Kelly has been in some pretty bad accidents (not her fault) and she is terrified of another one. This is going to be her car that I get roll in sometimes.

“Nigal, yes minivans come with AWD.”

Yes but they cost just as much and the gas milage is barely negligable. The Murano gets 19/24 and the average on the minis (2wd even) seems to fall right about 18/25.

But most importantly is, I don't want a van.

Yes they do, but once you give them AWD, there fuel effience drops. For example if you compaire the Nissan Murano with the Toyota Sienna with AWD, which is roughly the same size and same engine specs. The Nissan gets the same highway mileage, but 2mpg better city mileage.

Not to mention the fact the Murano is relatively (comparable equipment) cheaper. And I mean, let’s face it. An AWD mini doesn’t mean it can go where ever it wants. A rutted 2 track? Not likely.

No, but I am a motivational speaker.

I read that the AWD Toyota Sienna comes with run flat tires that cost $350 each to replace and don't last long. There is no place to put a spare either if you change to regular tires since it wasn't designed for normal tires.

Shoot, I betcha it would. I had my four cylinder, manual ranger up a four wheel drive road in Rockie mtn national Park! You'd be surprised where a car can go if you go carefully.

Yup, I agree Sassafras. I had a 4WD Subaru GL-10, 10 years ago. Went 4-wheeling with someone else in a high-rise SUV. Same spot, they got stuck, I didn't. I'm not sure if his had a lockable center differential, which mine did and I think that helped. Anyway, off-road capability of SUVs is more myth than fact. Most AWD/4WD cars and vans will do just as well. Even with a ton of "clearance" there are still some parts that are just as low as any car!

Rich makes a good point. We were looking at mini SUVs for good gas mileage but still had the high clearance etc. The XTerra had expensive tires when you needed to replace them.

My wife thinks the Murano is ugly as sin. I like the looks of it.

Of course, I thought these were cool when they first came out too:

I'm wondering how I'll like the Murano in a few years.

I'd love to get the Infinity FX45 which is the high end model. They are even sweeter.

SUV For Sale
I've got a '90 S-10 Blazer with only 220,000 miles on it. The motor is fairly new with only 25,000 miles on it (4.3L) Make me an offer.

Great idea, C.W. I guess when you come to a river you just flip that thing over and paddle across.
