I NEVER post from work.

You can try and get me fired from my wife.

Actually you can have my wife.

Ewker - Yes.

TownDawg - Thanks. I've been doing that for quite a while.

And now I can jump forward within a post and return back.

If you click on an item in the second post, it goes to the first of the duplicate items, which is in the first post.

I didn’t always agree with TrailTurtle but I’ll miss his posts because he makes me seem like a moderate.

Its too bad there are people in this world who wish ill to those they disagree with or want to intimidate or silence dissenting voices. #&%!$ing Nazi bastards!

He started a string.
The string violated the "Terms of Participation."
The string disappeared.

Or, simply, now you see it, now you don't.

I for one will be honest enough to say I feel he is a real ass hole and I hope he gets everything out of life his hatefulness garners him. And yes, I know there are some here who think the exact same thing of me and I have the highest respect for those who step up and say so.”

No. No. And yeah right.

I had no problem with his views and opinions. It was in his delivery. I tried having a grown up discussion with him at first because he wanted to know about me. After I told him more about my own political views than anyone hear has ever been privy to he simply continued to call me a Fox News watching, brain washed Bush lover who is bent on turning America into Jesus Land. Even after I gave a detailed list of my own grievences I have against Bush, explained I don't even get Fox News anymore, and I'm not a christian he continued to be hateful and sterio type me.

Now why in the world would I ever hike with a piece of shlt like that?

Nigal, does the (derogatory) thread start at the one about the 5,000 soldiers going to Canada? 'guess I'll have to read it carefully; last time I just skimmed over the thread.

“Nigal, does the (derogatory) thread start at the one about the 5,000 soldiers going to Canada?"

I can't remember which thread it was but it was when he first came around. The thread you asked about was after I gave up and started swinging back.

"It it true you were singled out at work because of trailturtle's comlplaint to your employer?”

That was Super Troll. I don't even post from work.

Pooting from work's a bad idea, likely. Good for you.

I thinks it's best to keep the politics off the trail and away from the campfire. I'm politically burned out anyway, so I left the politics back in november and I've been singing "American Pie" by John McClean ever since.

taking politics seriously is ridiculous...sit through hours of hearings listening to the childish bickering of our elected officials and you'll see why.

"I don’t care for the political debates but you are being respectful now so I don’t think you’d come down too hard on me for saying that I’m pretty good at seeing what Bush is responsible for and what he has no control over. Mostly of the loony left here likes to blame Bush for bad weather and heavy traffic. LOL! So here are the things I do hold Bush’s feet in the fire for:

Iraq- Let’s just get it out of the way right now! LOL! I personally feel that Saddam’s years of criminal dictatorship were reason enough to invade. I have been on record as saying Bush was wrong the way he threw every damn thing against the wall until something stuck. He should have stuck to the violations against the UN resolutions and not gone on the great WMD escapade. He was wrong in assuming that America would have the same sentiments towards an Iraqi invasion as we did with Afghanistan. The simple fact is (IMHO) we Americans don’t give two #&%!$s what some country around the globe is going through no matter how evil the sob is. We do not have the fortitude nor the stomach to go to war for no other reason than vanquish evil. This is the understatement of the year I know, but we should have left Iraq to it’s own miserable existence.

Spending- Good gawd, enough said. While I don’t hold him 100% responsible for the economy I can hold him responsible for over spending.

Immigration- I am 100% for legal immigration and sharing in the American dream but there’s nothing I hate more than a soft, simpering PC, pussie on illegal immigration.

Roadmap to Peace- It’s a disaster.”

It all started here. around the 4th. I thought he was an obviouse troll but when he quieted down a bit and started asking me pointed question I though maybe I actually could have a respectful conversation. I was wrong. But admittedly it doesn't take much to get me to start swing when it's coming from someone like him.

"I wish we could leave the politics to nights around the camp fire, so that way we hikers could have REAL throw-downs:)lol”

And ruin a perfectly good hike? Two rules I live by when on the trail, no drugs and no politics. Talk politics the first time and there isn't a second time.

My Last Post (+1)
Looks like still some more defusing & finishing up...

precision - You are more than welcome to still join us. All nice people, Dem or GOP are welcome. We may need to make some modifications for the rumor of high water however, so if you decide to go, please forward my your e-mail (create an account on yahoo or something if you are concerned about it).

Nigal - We have always agreed on more things than we have disagreed on and you haven\\\'t done anything to me whatsoever that I have any issues with other than the areas we disagree, and I hope you feel the same in reverse. Yes, I am an a-hole.

crazypace - It is wrong to think I am \\\"anti-military\\\". I hold the very solid belief that without a strong military, any kind of lasting peace is not-attainable.

TownDawg - Thanks.

mapleleaf - I look like a stocky Republican.

Ewker - Thanks.

bbw - Quite a lot of my apology was meant for you.

SuperTroll - I\\\'ve backed off the issues and they have all been resolved.

pedxing - Thanks for taking time to consider my perspective.

jame - If someone makes me \\\'angry\\\' it usually means they are right about something that I haven\\\'t admitted to myself. The last thing I will do is use some kind of force against them to change their views, that is actually my principal \\\'moral\\\' value, and is what shapes a lot of my views on the things (it is interesting to note that the result of these seems to be so controversial). If someone threatens me, threatens to come to my house, or goes out of their way to violate my privacy, that is an entirely different matter and I take such things very seriously.

VioLIN - Keep fighting the good fight!

Bearmagnet - I have never seen an online poster as funny as you.

Also... some are concerned related to data collections. *ALL* data that was collected will be completely destroyed Feb. 1, 2005 (when I get back from my trip ... hopefully alive).

Nigal,
I wasn't serious about having political fights around the camp fire.

I joined a trip at Sipsey last fall. We had some political discussion, and it was pleasant to talk to and listen with other people about some of the political subjects (there were no 'throw-downs'); however, as you have indicated in your post to the TT the talk needs to be civil, so the talk at Sipsey camp was most cordial, save but for the jokes that we knew mostly as friendly ribbings, which, is where the discussions changed topics.

Perhaps moderation is the key to peace and sensebility.

Thank you to all for getting me up to speed on the thread.

Alright, Stikmon with the words of wisdom. You go!

No, but seriously, we all tend to assume this false sense of security on the Internet where we figure we can hide behind our screen names which have no resemblance to our identities (except maybe on the trail). Or if we feel threatened, or somehow otherwise upset, we just turn our computer off and it goes away, right?

If you know the right places to look, IP addresses can be used to identify who you are, where you live, etc. In fact, this is largely becoming the basis of legally identifying things on the Internet, namely things like credit card fraud, etc. They carry roughly the same identity weight as a house telephone number, or a street address, especially for those of us with cable/DSL Internet service, where you often keep the same IP address for long periods of time (weeks, if not months). And even for those on dial-up, chances are your ISP logs what IP addresses they give you when you call in.

That being said, don't get me wrong; I don't mean to scare anyone off the Internet. Keep in mind that while this can be done, it takes a great deal of effort and usually in order for someone to be targeted in such a way, they usually have to draw enough attention to themselves to single themselves out.

The bottom line is to use your head in what you're posting. We've got a very tight community here and lots of us know each other personally. It's all to easy to lose sight of the fact that this still is a public Internet forum. I'm guilty of this myself in some instances. Nevertheless, freedom of speech or not, it still doesn't change the fact that some things are just plain inappropriate in a public place. Period.

Alright, enough ranting for a night. Carry on as you were...

Oh don't worry. You don't owe me anything. Even though I sound all fired up I am able to keep things in perspective. It's the damn internet after all. And I'm not so full of myself to not admit I gave as much as I got so I am at fault as well.

BTW: Bush isn't being PC on immigration. I think there are three reasons he is pretty pro-immigration (not necessary in this order):

1) It helps with the immigrant (esp. Hispanic vote).

2) A genuine belief in competition and opportunity.

3) Many businesses, esp the big ones, benefit from the wage competition of people in need of jobs (it weakens unions, dappens worker demands and lowers wages). This is why many lefties and Unions have been anti-immigration in the past.
