Kubotan (Click on image.)
Two hours of instruction were included in the price.

As I get older I am more and more of a target for people looking for an easy mark. So. besides being more vigilant, I like to be prepared for any confrontation.

"Undoubtedly, the most popular, and quite possible the most versatile personal defense weapon is the Kubotan." A FISTFUL OF DYNAMITE "The Kubotan" This article mentions the martial art that I am studying and practicing. "Indeed, nearly all joint locking techniques common to Jujutsu and Aiki-Jutsu become easier to apply with the Kubotan." So the Kubotan adds another dimension to my capabilities in martial arts.

It's been a great day.

Self Protection
I can't carry my keys on it, but I much prefer the SIGARMS P229 for self defense.

Mount this on the roof of your car and nobody will mess with you.

Naw, it's just like other weapons, martial arts training and military forces. You hope you never have to use any of them.

Actually, martial arts training does have some benefits. In nursing homes where they have non-contact martial arts training, I have been told that accident rates have decreased by over 50%. Improvements in balance help to reduce falls.

My Sensai used one on me to demonstrate to the class how to use it and he got me in a pressure point between my rips or just below and I fell to flat on face in pain.

Or get one of those high-tech metal flashlights...it's about the size of the Kubotan. It have 250,000 candle power or more...and the lightbulb is practically shatter-proof...I think they test dropped the flashlight from a 3rd story window...or something.

Blind (temporary) the assailant or use it like the Kubotan.

Ouch! Sounds like your sensei went a little overboard, slydevil.

Right on, stanlee, one of those flashlights would work great. And there are numerous other objects that could be used to obtain similar results, such as a ball point pen, some tools and even a cane.

I don't know NS, my wife has a key ring with about 15 keys and 4 clickers on it and a 6" nylon strap. It's a good 3-4 pounds. I think that damn thing would give anyone a run for their money. LOL!

Nigal - Yes, that is a wicked weapon that could do a lot of damage. A good swing or several swings across a face could cause a lot of blood to flow. I would not be surprised if an airline were to refuse to let her board with it.

(And you better be careful and talk nice to her. LOL.)
