the best trail in North Carolina is the Black Mountain Crest. IMO

While not as wild or rugged as the Black Mountain Crest, the section of the AT from US Highway 19E south to Carver's Gap features miles of grassy balds with elevations ranging from 3000' to 6000+'.

Go to a book store and check out some of the trail books they have on Western North Carolina. I used to take off from CLNC all the time to hike. I'm from them there hills so I'm familiar with alot of places. But i hike alot of off the beaten path trails. Get a book and take your pick.. Good Luck
