Cirrus is XMradio's competition. But there have been talks of a merger between the two companies since neither one is making a profit (so they say)

Yes I have heard that but who knows. Next year they are being offered in lots of new cars so I think that is where they will come into the money.. I think it is great way to hear the music you want to hear........the unit I have if you hear a song you love you can put it in memory and anytime it comes on it will pop up on the screen and you can go to it.

I had XM for as long as the introductory subscription lasted. 3 months I think. By the end of the first month, I was so tired of the repeats and the commercials that weren't supposed to exist on satellite radio that I just let the subscription lapse. They've got to add a whole lot more programming before I'll pay for it. I'm kind of a talk radio kind of guy and it all just repeated endlessly to the point it was maddening.

It's not that it's not there, it's just that it repeats so often that it's repetitions. I suppose it's just not possible to have non-stop live talk radio of the brand that most people enjoy.

Anyone have any recent experience with Sirius (or XM)? Two of my kids have asked for Sirius (XM second choice) for Christmas. They have some package deals on their website. Any suggestions?

Maple just got a receiver for her birthday. So, we've only had it for two weeks. (Sirius)

I don't know much about XM, except that it's a bigger entity and may have more stations. However, Sirius has 120 and they are a good mix of music, sports, talk, etc. Hell, they have E Street radio (All Bruce network) So, that thrilled me to no end!!!
But, the subscription is about 12 or 13 bucks and very reasonable. The reception is very good. So far, I have no complaints...

I have XM and it is great. Lots of stations and formats to choose from. I think mine cost about 30-40 every 3 months or you can pay a yr in advance for a cheaper cost. Plus with XM you can listen to it over the internet, which is nice at work.
