I was going over one of my NCT maps and I found a 35 mile long trail called the Fox River Trail that starts in Pictured Rocks and ends at Seney Municipal.Does anyone have any info about this trail and or maps.

Thank you for the help.

CMB, I did that trail last fall with some of the Mich TT'ers. Lots of blueberries along the trail when we went. I will look when I get home tonight to see what info I have on the trail.
Here is some pictures of the trail.

Birch and I did the trail last Sept. It's gorgeous, no one else is on it and there are bears and wolves in the area. We saw tons of sand hill cranes, camped near the river or a lake every night and ate our fill of wild blueberries everyday.
The trail goes through alot of areas that have been lumbered and there are "stump museums" that you hike through. The ground is rippled and rutted with tree roots. The river is supposed to be excellant trout fishing but it's really overgrown and I can't imagine getting down in it easily.
The trail is a tiny bit hard to follow sometimes, mostly in areas that are currently being lumbered, but that's not too frequent, there was only one spot they were working on last fall.
The map the DNR provides is a small map for as long as the trail is but it's addequate. I only have one copy unfortunately but you can get one by calling the dnr @ 517-373-4175. Ask for the Fox river Pathway map.
The trailhead starts near Seney. We left a car at the campground at Kingston Lake for when we finished hiking, no one messed with it. There is an outfitter who'll pick you up at the end of the trail or ferry your car for you. Tarabull would know the name and number if you need it. The trailhead is just down the road, from the Seney Township campground (within walking distance).
If you have any specific questions shoot me an email or give me a call.

lol. Birch decided he wanted to check out Lake Superior. Unfortunately he had the car keys.

CMB, I just found a couple extra maps. I'll bring them for you next month if you want.

Is the fall the best time to do a trail like that?

Well, spring and early summer you'd have to put up with many many many bugs. Mid to late summer would be good, late fall would be good. Probably impassable in winter. And you can't have the blueberries any other time but late summer/early fall.

I know what you mean! One of the reasons I'm so excited about heading to Indiana in March. Pennsylvania has alot to offer too, but it's a further drive for you and Nicole.
