Swap Some Germs!View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 6 of 6 messages posted.
“With Valentine's Day coming up, perhaps it would be appropriate to post this PSA. *** (bring out announcer's on-air voice) *** There are 278 types of germs living in the mouth of a human being. Those germs are harmless: when two people kiss, thousands of germs flow from one mouth to another. In such cases they produce enzymes and natural antibiotics for self-defense. As a result, the bodies of the two kissing individuals develop resistibility against all other pathogenic bacteria. Thank you. We now return you to your normally scheduled programming. last edited: 2/02/05 6:49:54 AM” 6:48:26 AM 2/02/05 “There are better reasons out there for this type of activity.” 9:22:16 AM 2/02/05 “Antibiotics are drugs. There are no "natural antibiotics". Antibodies are not antibiotics. You only gain resistence from specific exposures to non-self. Most "germs" in the mouth of humans are found in all humans and cause no reaction. The only time you would react is if the other is infected (sick). In which case, you have a great chance of becoming sick yourself.” 9:34:08 AM 2/02/05 “gross me out.” 6:13:27 AM 2/03/05 “I read that there is a 1% chance of infection from a dog bite that breaks skin and a 99% chance from a human bite. Maybe BM can help us out here.” 9:08:34 AM 2/03/05 “LANSING, Mich. -- A man has been jailed on assault charges after a prosecutor, police officer and courtroom bailiff became seriously ill after shaking hands with him. During a Dec. 21 court appearance on a traffic charge, John Ridgeway pulled out a vial of an unknown liquid, rubbed his hands with the contents and insisted on shaking hands with the three people, authorities said. All of them got sick within an hour, suffering from nausea, headaches, numbness and tingling that lasted about a day. Two sought treatment at a hospital. The FBI was running tests on the substance to identify it. Ridgeway, 41, told officials the vial contained olive oil, according to prosecutor Keith Kushion. He was not the prosecutor who fell ill. "I have never seen the likes of this," Kushion said. "Nobody else has, either." Neither Ridgeway nor his attorney immediately returned calls for comment. Ridgeway could get up to six years in prison if convicted. http://www.wftv.com/irresistible/6031947/detail.html” 1:01:01 PM 1/13/06
