“Since you guys are signed up as maybes I wanted to ask you if moving the trip to the weekend before this would change your status.
ENS had originally been one of the "organizers" of this trip and he has a trip that weekend.

ENS would you be able to go this weekend? March 11-13th”

“Lt, this is your trip, I am only a maybe hitchhiker, if you can get a definite partner, go for it.

Please do not plan around me.”

“ditto on what Manuka said. I can't commit to anything until the work stuff is settled.”

“Um that is why I am thinking about changing it. Because nobody has commited.”

“I'm definitely interested. I can't commit yet, but I really want to do the trip. I know this will be awesome.”

“Hey ENS what about the weekend before?”

“that's the weekend before the WV trip? Yeah, that's what I mean. I'd be on the trail three weekends in a row and finances will be tight, but, if you do it that weekend I will try to make it. don't plan it around me though.”
