Hey Fridge - I'm in Richmond as my last stop before the AT. How far is Mt. Rogers from my location?

Nimblefoot: approx 6 hrs. Traveling 64 west to I 81 south to exit 45 marion. Take this exit at marion , turn left on route 16 all the way to Troutdale. Look for rt 603 on the right. Take 603 to MtRogers Trailhead parking. I live approx 3 miles from there on in too Konnarock.
Got to go. Got friends waiting to go for a HIKE to IronMountain.

I wish I could join you. It's a good day here in NW Indiana as well. I will probably hit a local park this afternoon. Certainly not as cool your hike though. :P

We did a nice hike over Sugarloaf today - about 8 miles. It was sunny and warm (50's) with only an inch or two of snow on the ground. Yesterday we did another five miles. It was much too nice a weekend to stay home.

Saturday I hiked with Little Bit and her grandsons. We hiked about 5-6 miles of Natchez Trace from Burns Branch south. Part of the hike was bushwacking (me) an old part of the original trace. It is an official side trail (blue blazed) but had not been kept up. Trenton and Dusty had a ball and it was good to hike with Little Bit again. I will lead a hike here in two weeks, so this was a scouting trip for me also. I haven't hiked this section in two years and it has been neglected.
