"Maintenance" can be a cover term for "it broke" or "somebody F---ed it over."

They went bankrupt because Pennsy hasn't been buying gear since he went on strike at work.

Campmor will be next.

I think Techntrek placed an order and the server couldn't take it.

Funny, we didn't get any notice emails from them about this. We usually do.

MSR®, Marmot®, and Mountain Hardwear® teamed up for a hostile takeover of REI.com. Results still pending. I'll keep you all updated. If the hostile takeove is successful, watch for MSR/Marmot/Mountain Hardwear employees to storm REI brick and mortar stores in full force. REI employees are hunkered down under the counters with bearspray and ice-axes. The windows are boarded up with snowboards and skis and kayaks. This could get real ugly. Stay tuned.

That shouldn't take more than a nickel's worth of gas.

Kind of made ya feel disconnected, abandoned, lost! Geez, How would we spend our money today? It's just like Starbucks.. we're addicted. Yeah, I was trying to shop too. :') Guilty as charged.

is it me or is REI going the way off backpacker magazine. I go in the store here in Brentwood and it is less and less gear. More casual clothing (including cotton t-shirts and pants), more car camping stuff, etc

maybe it has more to do where the store is located.

Yeah Eddie, I noticed the same thing. Its not hardly worth my time to go up to Brentwood anymore. I'll go to Blue Ridge Mtn. Sports in Franklin instead. TTA members get 10% discount at the register off all items even those on sale. No need to wait on a year end rebate. BTW when do we get those rebates from REI anyway? I thought it was in Feb.

REI is alot of hype, I purchase more form local sporting goods stores.

REI carries more stuff then the local stores, at least in my area, could hope to.

Yea when do we get that money

I finally was able to place my order late last night.
The REI site still wasn't working correctly. The checkout wouldn't let me fill out a gift card. It kept bringing me back to the same page. I finally had to forgo the gift card and just have it shipped to the other address.

I had some money left on a gift card my son gave me. I finally spent it all. I got a 100% polyester long sleeve shirt for 4.50, another shirt for 12.00 and a Patgonia capilene boxers for 10.00. Most of the shirts and pants on the clearance racks were 100% cotton. They have a lot of button down shirts that you would wear out on a date on their racks now. It looks more like a Wal Mart :(

I couldn't get an order placed on REI's website or through their phone numbers last night. Server and manpower overloads, I guess. I called this morning and they honored both my member discount and the sale price on the bike computer I wanted. Their customer service remains outstanding.
