Teton Crest Trail Trip

“The dates for this trip are extremely tentative right now. We will be doing this trip but when depends on other plans. We'll have a better idea about the dates in late April.

The other possible dates for this trip are -

Aug 25 - 29.”

Talking distance! How far apart distance wise are those 2 trips? I could rent a car and change the flight...that's what I am trying to find out...

do you even have a trip around that time?

dammit, you had some dates postest somewhere, now I can't find them. Too many trips all at once.

“Which trip are you talking about Gem? This one's in August.

We'll be finishing our Seqouia/Kings Canyon hike when you begin that trip, and we'll be finishing our Yosemite trip when you finish that trip.

Yellowstone - possibly Aug 16 to Aug 23

The Teton Crest - Either Thur 25 Aug to Mon 29 Aug, or Mon 15 Aug to Fri 19 Aug.

The Lizard Head loop in the Winds - Either Tues 30 Aug to Sun 4 Sept, or Sat 20 Aug to Thurs 25 Aug.”

“Gemini - We'll get our permits for the crest the day before the trip at the park. They only reserve one third of the permits.

There are no permits for the Wind Rivers. If you've never been to the Winds I'd suggest going on that trip.”

“lol, seriously guys, DC in August. Yes, I know how hot and humid it will be. I used to be stationed at Ft. Meade, but its the only time I have off in the summer. Then again, we could always go in the fall when its cooler.... like in October. And that would leave me time to go to the Tetons with you all.

“I'd have to agree with Bison, Chills ;) DC in August - I'm not sure what's worse, the heat and humidity, or the fact that the ground-level ozone and smog is choking you to death... If I'm outdoors for more than 5 minutes I end up getting soaked!

You're right Bison, I'll be joining you @ Old Rag next month - Can't wait for nicer hiking weather... I'm going to attempt to survive the snowshoe fest this weekend at West Rim but, they might end up having to pull my frozen body off the trail.”

“Okay, I set aside the vacation days for this trip. I'd like to look into airline tickets, so embear and Bison, where would be the best place to fly into? Where are you two coming in from?”

“Chills, best place to fly in would be Jackson, but that can be expensive. The first alternative would be Salt Lake city which is maybe a 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive, second alternative would be Denver about a 7 to 8 hour drive.

We'll be in Yellowstone before the trip so we'll already be in the area.”

Great picture. My family and I were there a couple of years ago on vacation, and loved it! The Tetons are some of the most beautiful mountains you'll ever see.”
