“when do you think you'll know for sure whether you're doing both trips or just this one ? I guess I have at least couple of weeks before I'd really have to book a flight.

I haven't checked but I would expect it'd cost a fortune to fly into SLC and out of Denver. And I'm reluctant to hire a car that would be sitting unused for 10 days.”

“O.K. After a couple of weeks of thinking about this, I'm tossing my hat in the ring for the Teton Crest trip as well. I'll be hiking in Colorado August 20 & 21, so I could swing by the airport one of those days (preferrably late on the 20th or early on the 21st).

“I took a great solo trip up the Bear's Ears trail to Valentine Lake. Then I went up over the Lizard Head Trail and down into Cirque of the Towers. I hiked down the valley and came back out at the Bear's Ears Trailhead. One of the most spectacular hikes I ever took. Check out my shots on Phil's page.

But I wouldn't wish going up the Lizard Head Trail from Cirque of the Towers on my worst enemy. That is a steep climb. I made good use of my treking poles coming down it. I would think of reversing the trip and coming up the Lizard Head from Valentine Lake.

I agree, I did came down that mountain, would not want to be going up it.”

“We went up the Lizard Head Trail from Cirque of the Towers on day 2 of a 12 day trip.”

“SN, what did you think of going up the Lizard Head Trail? Good idea? Going down steep trails scares me more than going up them (middle aged knees).”
