Anybody had experience with one of these jackets? REI has it now for $69.83, regular price $99.00.

How about Mountain Hardwear zip off pants?

I have the Precip and I'm happy with it's light weight...it does get a bit steamy at times.

I bought one about 4 years ago...works good, but probably not too durable...but for that low price, it's worth it.

I bought the precip jacket and pants last season and so far I like them.

Mixed reviews from what I understand, but that sounds like a good price.

I like mine. I have two, 1 purple and 1 black. I also got the Precip Oracle in red (bigger pockets).

STP has it for $69 too. And the women's dart, which is like the precip but lighter weight.

But it is yellow. Some people like yellow though.

Mine have proven very durable. Breathes fair but mine is many years old and newer ones will breathe even better. For under $100 Precip is a great jacket. If money is no object I'd probably go w/ the Arc'teryx Sirrus or Patagonia Specter.

I usually sweat like Cool Hand Luke in a hotbox when wearing a rain coat, but with the armpits unzipped on my precip I felt very comfortable.

I have one and like it. The pit zips are huge.

I've got both the jacket and the pants. I wouldn't do much off-trail hiking in them, but I am happy with both.

ULTRA,

I picked one of these up a few weeks ago at that price. I have not tested it yet but I can already tell I will love it.

Thanks for the reviews. I'll probably get both.

Look at my post about Marmot in the Leki thread. I love my Precips.

I also have the Precips, when on the JMT I walked for 2 days in the rain. And to be fair about it the rain was pouring down pretty good, The trail became a stream. The Precip pants were great. (Stops bug bites too) But I felt as if I was getting wet thru the Precip jacket. Now in all fairness, it could have been a chilled sweat, since I was backpacking from Forrester Pass, around Tawny Point, to Wright Creek and on to Guitar Lake. But my arms felt wet. To this day I am not sure what happened, either the Precip jacket allowed water to penetrate it. Or it's lack of ventilation caused me to sweat and that made me wet. Either way I was wet. So I will keep the Precip Pants, but will find something better than the Precip Jacket. Now I use the Jacket only for bug protection.

I wish the hood protected the face a little more.

I've been real happy with mine. My goretex only comes out in the winter now. The best part is how little pack space it takes.

Love mine, if it gets hot i open the pit zips and it cools right off

What's wrong with yellow?

Doesn't work with your pants nor your skin tone. It also looks like the jacket has a lighte blue lining which completely clashes with your shirt.

I have the womans one and its a few years old, I've no problems with it except when I'm hiking in a downpour for any lenght of time it seems to not keep you as dry as some others.

I just ordered my third set of precips - I seem to need a new set each year. After a year of heavy use they do start to leak a bit, so I replace them. I bought the Precip Anorak instead of the jacket this time because it's lighter than the jacket and was less than $40 on sale. Buying them on sale makes replacing them each year pretty easy.
