I'm in Houston, too. Just south of 59, just east of Shepherd. How about you?

I live up close to the Woodlands.

I'm not gonna discuss my theories on what the causes of monkeybutt are but I will recommend A&D ointment or something similiar for preventing and curing apeass.

Another vote for Boxer Briefs. Though that Under Armour looks promising.

I really don't like boxer briefs. I tried them once in the early 90s. They are neither fish nor fowl. They sacrifice some of the support of briefs while they sacrifice ALL of the air circulation of boxers. I think until the perfect pair of jungle hiking underwear is invented, I'll stick with cotton boxers, and try twigeater's runner's lube and see if it is any better than Gold Bond.

You could always do what they do in the military and wear pantyhose.

Exofficio boxers or brief are made of nylon not stinking polyester, and will dry in minutes. They also have some kind of funk killer in the weave. They are pricy: $18/pair for the brief; $25/pair for the boxers. They are great! I work outside and wear them in the summer months mostly.
When camping, you can wash them and they will dry in a matter of minutes. For backpacking all you need are two pairs-one on and one washed in the pack.

I like bike short liners. No chaffing and it feels like a hug from home only it's my nuts being hugged.

digustingly hilarious! and tricky too!

i like my guys in boxers, but my husband wears the whitey tightys, yuck! my sons all wear boxers, they do it because it looks better with their jeans worn low, (wish they wouldn't). my oldest boys grew out of this fad, only to have the 2nd son go back to it. what's up with this anyway? i see more underwear out on the street than i do in my laundry basket!

Neosporin or some generic multi-bacterial ointment
The best prevention for rash or jock itch as they call it is Neosporin ointment. I was suffering one night on the JMT last summer after a 17 mile day. I rubbed the neosporin on and I was clear as a baby's butt by morning. Even if you are bathing every day on the trail this stuff kills whatever causes the rash.
