These things are awesome!
My neck has been bothering me, so I bought some to wear while at work (since it'd be pretty tough to try to hold a heating pad all day.) They rock! I'm going to use some this weekend for my backpacking trip to the ocean. I'll be toasty warm all night long.

Pink, I think you said you found them too hot. I was reading the instructions and it recommends pasting them over a thin clothing layer if it's uncomfortably hot.

Pixie, I was using them duirng my last bout of neck/shoulder pain from muscle tension. I thought they rocked too, but my massage therapist warned me not to keep them on too long. I forget what the reason was, but it didn't help relax the muscle after a certain time, like an hour I want to say. She wanted me to switch from heat to cold, thus the thermacare thing lasting 8 hours wasn't necessary.

I now have an awesome herbal/flaxseed wrap that I keep in the freezer, and throw in the microwave when I want it warm. It wraps all around my neck and shoulders, and smells wonderful! I bought it at one of the kiosks in the mall (after some haggling).

SG, Yeah, ice/heat is supposed to be good, but my neck doesn't respond well to it. So my PT recommended that I just stick with the heat.

But I'm gonna use one of these suckers to keep me warm when I backpack in cold weather! Woo Hoo!

They are at drug stores. They are made for sore muscles and come in different sizes/shapes for knees, lower backs, and the one I have for necks or could be used on an arm or across one shoulder. Just depends on where ya stick it. It works with exposure to air and has adhesive strips to stick it on. Lasts 8 hours.
Oh, here's a site for them: Thermacare

I was thinking of using the neck one, or getting the lower back one and putting it on in the evening to keep me toasty.

If you just want the warmth for use in camp, it would be far cheaper to just buy the regular hand warmers, and use several. Those Thermacare things are really expensive.

but tech, how would you stick the handwarmers on? These puppies cover a lot of surface area. My neck one is about 10"x6" The lower back ones are even bigger.
Yeah, they ain't cheap, but I think it might be worth it for cold sleepers like myself. Especially since we can't have a campfire this weekend.
I got 3 neck wraps for $7.50 at a local drug store chain, btw. I bet WalMart would have em a little cheaper.

Ok, I've had it on for over 12 hours and it's still warm. I can feel the warmth starting to diminish tho. They say you'll get 8+ hours and they mean it!
My neck feels a bit better too!

I actually didn't use mine over the weekend. I had them handy tho. I was more worried about my nose being cold. That's when I thought maybe duct taping a handwarmer to my nose might work. Never did that either.
They are the best. And Wal Mart has them at an everyday low price.

I brought some too this weekend... but didn't use it.

Tanks Pix for the idea. They are going in my bag next to my hand warmers from now on! :)

If you girls want to know how to get bad Karma and $64 of store credit for $24 let me know... it caused me to get the Bubonic Plague I think but I unknowingly cheated Wal Mart out of $40.

I bought like... 9 dozen golf balls from Wal Mart clearance racks for $8/dozen. I was at work one day and I was leaving early and I wanted to get some lunch on my drive home... but I noticed I forgot my wallet. D'oh! But... I had that 9 dozen or so golf balls in teh back of my car. I decided to return 3 dozen and get $24 back for lunch. I stop at the wal Mart and I grabbed the boxes of balls and took them inside. Since I left the recpiet either in the car or at home... they would not giv eme cash back... just store credit. That's fine I said... so she hands me a piece of paper and I sign it and she hands me a little gift card thinggy. I goto the Deli and buy some lunch and found a neat hat while screwng around there and a couple of other nick-nacks. When I checked ot I handed the card over and paid for my balance... which was about $20. The lady tells me the remaining card balance is located on the bottom of the receipt. When I look at my balance it said $45... which ment they must have credited me full price ($20/dozen) for the clearance golf balls. I guess i could have went and said something but I said screw it and just took my stuff and my $45 left in Wal Mart credit and went home.
