Cool!!

The tuner knobs look like amber.

Cedar has mellow(er) tone than spruce.

Play it!

Play it!

Epiphone Zakk Wylde Les Paul Custom
My son Nathan has been drooling/daydreaming over this guitar for a while now.

I ordered it for his 16th Birthday/Christmas present.
I wanted to give him a memorable gift on his 16th Birthday...and I know he thinks an $800 guitar is totally out of the question.
This should be a nice surprise for him!

Kool!!!!

I gave #1 son a Telecaster for his 16th.
(We needed a Telecaster in the house!!)
It is a Mexican Fender.
I Texed it with AlNiCo pickups and mother-of-toilet seat pickguard and '50s style bridge(3 brass saddles, etc.)

He stuck with it for about a year......it ain't easy.

#2 plays well now.

That Les Paul is a very versitile axe. Old Zack really makes 'em scream. I imagine the first thing he will want to learn with it is the signature "Zack pinch"? LOL!

Now if ya want the ultimate axe you could spend a little more and get one of these. An Ibanez Jem 777 Bad Horsie sig series. Only $2,300 but can do everything any other axe can do and do it better...

My fav is my Yamaha SA-900. It's old with the sunburst (not red as shown here). It's worn, there are belt-buckle scratches on the back, the frets are flat, and I worship it. I wouldn't change a thing. I friend of mine said I should get the frets replaced and I was like dude, you are nuts... I wouldn't change a thing. If you play guitar you know what I mean. I just feels gooooood to play it.

He has a small Fender for practicing. One of his close friends just bought a full stack...he's been going over to his house and playing on that quite a bit lately ;) He has two other guitars a cheap Fender Strat and a Peavey.

Nathan has been playing since he was 10....started him off with some lessons at the local music store.

Nathan's grandpa and both of his uncles play guitar as well so he gets lots of encouragement :)

The Fender Blues Junior is a good practice and small gig amp.

15 screamin' watts of tube power with a decent reverb.

One might be surprised at how loud 15 watts is and it can be miked for larger venues.

It only weighs 31 pounds.

Played guitar with a friend last night. The only song we both new was Knockin' on Heavens Door. We had a blast, however. That's a fun song to play. Gotta love Guns 'n Roses...

(chuckle)

The "Friend" was Bob Dylan. I play along with his disks on a regular basis. Some of my favorites are "Senior (Tale of Yankee Power)", "Lay Lady Lay"... man there are too many to name. I start to get a little drunk and my playing and singinging actually starts to sound good. I used to think that Neil Young was the guitarists best friend but these days I am on a huge Dylan Kick. My kids do NOT appreciate this stuff and I think their music is crap. At least I don't tell them what I think about their music unlike my old man who made a point of putting me down on about anything just to make himself look good.

I was just trying to spark some good music related conversation.

I think everyone I know can play this song and have fun.

Hey Joe is a great song for informal jam.

House Of The Rising Sun is good too......I think everyone knows that one.

This One's A Hoot......(especially when drunk)
Man On The Flying Trapeze - Lyrics & Chords

G C
Oh, once I was happy, but now I'm forlorn,
D7 G
Like an old coat that is ta tter'd and torn.
C
I'm left in this wide world to fret and to mourn,
D7 G
Be trayed by a maid in her teens.
Em B7
Now this girl that I loved, she was handsome and swell,
Em B7
And I tried all I knew her to please;
Em B7
But I never could please her one quarter so well,
E7 A7
As that man on the flying tra peze.

Chorus:

G C
Oh, he flies thro' the air with the greatest of ease,
D7 G
The daring young man on the flying trapeze.
C
His movements are graceful; all girls he does please,
D7 G
And my love he has purloined away.

Now the young man by name was Sefior Boni Slang,
Tall, big and handsome, as well made as Chang.
Where'er he appeared, how the hall loudly rang,
With ovations from all people there.
He'd smile from the bar on the people below
And one night he smiled on my love,
She winked back at him, and she shouted "Bravo!"
As he hung by his nose from above.

Her father and mother were both on my side
And tried very hard to make her my bride.
Her father, he sighed, and her mother, she cried
To see her throw herself away.
'Twas all no avail, she went there ev'ry night
And threw her bouquets on the stage,
Which caused him to meet her—how he ran me down,
To tell it would take a whole page.

One night I as usual went to her dear home,
And found there her mother and father alone.
I asked for my love, and soon 'twas made known,
To my horror, that she'd run away.
She packed up her boxes and eloped in the night,
With him with the greatest of ease.
From two stories high he had lowered her down
To the ground on his flying trapeze.

Some months after that I went into a hall;
To my surprise I found there on the wall
A bill in red letters which did my heart gall,
That she was appearing with him.
He'd taught her gymnastics, and dressed her in tights
To help him live at ease.
He'd made her assume a masculine name,
And now she goes on the trapeze.

Final Chorus:
She floats through the air with the greatest of ease;
You'd think her a man on the flying trapeze.
She does all the work while he takes his ease,
And that's what's become of my love.

hey marko, that works well, esp if you thumb the lowest string on each cord as you strum. I have never heard the entire song before, thanks for posting that. It will make a good campfire song for the scouts!

That is a great campfire song.
As the booze flows you can take turns singing verses and making up your own randy verses.

It is featured in a movie, It Happened One Night, 1934.....Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert......Frank Capra.

Gable and Colbert(reporter and runaway heiress) are riding on a bus full of odd people.
There are a couple of musicians on the bus and they strike up Man On The Flying Trapeze with various passengers taking turns with the verses with the crowd singing the choruses.
