If you have any questions about the area or what to bring, or even places to hang out in Nairobi feel free to post.” 1:49:47 AM 2/23/05 “This is not right. Have fun!” 5:56:56 AM 2/23/05 “I always wanted to go. Have fun! I am sure you're gonna love it. Take lots of pics!” 6:16:52 AM 2/23/05 “aaaah man, sounds awesome : ) don't get attacked by a lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, or buffalo!!” 7:50:03 AM 2/23/05 “What a great opportunity to get out and see the world. Nice choice! That's guaranteed to be an epic adventure you'll never forget. pats tango on the head” 8:15:29 AM 2/23/05 “Congrats and have fun (last not necessary advice, I know). Do not try to hip check elephants.” 8:33:41 AM 2/23/05 “You lucky rat ! Do you need a sherpa ?? Hmmmm ??” 8:35:21 AM 2/23/05 “I am so jealous. Have a great time.” 8:36:23 AM 2/23/05 “Wow, that sounds like it's going to be the trip of a lifetime! I hope we get to read a TR and see pictures. Please share the experience with us.” 8:37:22 AM 2/23/05 “Wow! Have a wonderful time and take a million pictures.” 8:40:23 AM 2/23/05 “I thought Tango was gonna be hunting down some really big game, that is, all the guys responsible for the hockey strike. Anyway, glad to see you're just going to Africa and not committing mass murder. Have fun! Take lots o' pics!” 8:43:05 AM 2/23/05 “Thanks dcarst1. It doesn't look like I'll have too much free time. I get in June 17 8PM and the safari starts the next morning. Thanks All. Nice to know my violent streak is well known here. Artex...PAT ON THE HEAD?!? WHY I OUGHTA!!!! I definately will have a trip report and probably too many pics to look at, at one time. The trip is months away and I have to remind myself of that already! I am going on my own Discovery Channel experience. Here are a few pics of the places I will be staying: ![]() ![]() ”9:36:32 AM 2/23/05 “Don't take in too many of the local beauty tips. Those big clay disks with the lower lips around then aren't as attractive as they sound. ;-)” 9:43:55 AM 2/23/05 “Jambo Tabgo Shinlingi Shilingi (they'll want money from you). Nogorogoro is the best place ever. It doesn't seem like it's that big until you start driving around and you never get close to the rim. Species in a small space are incredible. Watch for the hawks when you eat your lunch, they dive bombs ya. And remember Monkeys are evil!” 9:56:17 AM 2/23/05 “Ya gonna love it Tango” 9:57:34 AM 2/23/05 “Jambo! Don't let a certain TT'r hear you say that Y2! Thanks Stovie! One of my favorite movies is HATARI! with John Wayne set in Tanganyika.” 9:58:58 AM 2/23/05 “With your back, are you sure you don't need a pack bearer. I don't eat much, don't talk much, and drink very little.” 10:02:27 AM 2/23/05 “Sure FLM meet me in Nairobi June 17th!” 10:04:10 AM 2/23/05 “and practice your haggling! Great art stuff to be had there, but just accept that it'll take you an hour to get down to an acceptable price.” 10:06:19 AM 2/23/05 “Sounds like a great trip! enjoy!” 10:08:30 AM 2/23/05 “I'm all excited for you Tango. I wanna go now.” 10:10:13 AM 2/23/05 Y2 “Hii ni bei gani? Nitainunua!” 10:12:46 AM 2/23/05 “Alright my luck is changing, I better get going, I have an idea it's a long hike to Nairobi. By June No sweat!” 10:14:49 AM 2/23/05 “It's cool there during that time 70f/50f. So you really won't sweat.” 10:16:04 AM 2/23/05 “Boy, this just gets better and better” 10:23:34 AM 2/23/05 “You'll be back in time for the WVa trip I hope.” 10:45:05 AM 2/23/05 “The Trees trip? I think I'll be done with trips for awhile, till I get more vacation time!” 10:46:45 AM 2/23/05 “See the Swahili's coming along there!” 10:53:15 AM 2/23/05 “Damn, see how we rate? Given the choice between the trip of a lifetime, and getting drunk car-camping with TT'ers, she chooses the trip of a lifetime. We suck.” 10:55:18 AM 2/23/05 “Out, damn double-post! last edited: 2/23/05 10:56:33 AM” 10:55:18 AM 2/23/05 I was just thinking of you guys! “I just thought you were double ticked! Well since I'm crazy enough to post several hours a day on this site I figure I had to give you guys a break from me! last edited: 2/23/05 11:01:06 AM” 11:00:38 AM 2/23/05 “You'll probably come back with a whole bunch of great pictures and stories about how much fun you had too.” 11:02:16 AM 2/23/05 “My compact flash cards are ready to go!” 11:03:44 AM 2/23/05 “grr.” 11:05:28 AM 2/23/05 “Toilet seat covers... take toilet seat covers.” 11:06:36 AM 2/23/05 “Have a super time? (You had Daktari fantasies as a kid, no? LOL)” 11:07:27 AM 2/23/05 “Thanks Y2. I don't think I'd have thought of that. Thanks Lizs. I only hope my pics can do justice.” 11:16:53 AM 2/23/05 “yeah, even the nice places there are often not so nice.” 11:18:35 AM 2/23/05 “Don't eat the prawns. Haraka haraka, haina baraka.” 12:02:10 PM 2/23/05 “Haraka haraka, haina baraka.” Fritz 12:02:10 PM 2/23/05 What's that mean, "Ha, Ha, watch whitey run for the slit trench!"?” 12:04:39 PM 2/23/05 “Hmmm._____Something new! A trip report before the actual trip. Guess nothing would come from entering it on the trip page, since it appears to be a private trip. But what a trip!” 12:16:43 PM 2/23/05 Beware of the LEOPARD..... “Wow, that's great. It'll be an incredible experience. Just don't go for a stroll in the evening alone, when you're in the bush. Always have an experienced armed guide with you. A few years ago, a female tourist was killed and partially eaten by a leopard, when she went for a walk in the hot evening.” 12:47:49 PM 2/23/05 “I'm voting for Tango in that matchup. I guess you can't bring any of your own personal firearms, Tango?” 12:53:28 PM 2/23/05 “Tango I will pay you to take some pictures of some spiders for me please???? Here are some to get pics of. Featherleg Baboon (Stromatopelma calceata) Curved Horn Baboon (Ceratogyrus bechuanicus) Greater Horned Baboon (Ceratogyrus brachycephalus) Straight Horned Baboon (Ceratogyrus marshalli) King Baboon (Citharischius crawshayi) Ornamental Baboon (Heteroscodra maculata) Cameroon Red (Hysterocrates gigas) Usambar Baboon (Pterinochilus sp.) If you can get pics I will pay $5 each for them. 8)” 12:59:29 PM 2/23/05 PURRRRING..... “Oh yeah, forgot to mention, if you hear purring, quickly put your back to a tree, and hold a big Bowie knife (8" blade (you are going to carry one????)) pointed 45 degrees upward. That way if the cat is on the tree you're backed up to, he can't jump on you. If he's in any other tree in front, or beside you, and he jumps, hopefully he jumps into your knife. Or you adjust your knife to his angle of descend. Advice from my grand dad (he used to hunt in Sad Diego)...and that tactic was for mountain lions. By the way, if/when those big cats jump, they aim for your neck.....they'll break your neck before you hit the ground.” 1:46:15 PM 2/23/05 “NS, I didn't even think of that. I hope the real TR is much more exciting than that. Fritz since I think that is seafood there is no chance of me eating that. Bit, No firearms, but I will buy a nice knife when I'm there. I will try to Mikey. If I see any I don't know if we get out of the jeeps, but there are nature walks too...so. Where would one find these creatures? And I would NOT take any money for them. Nice to know Stanlee. So I shouldn't say "Here kitty, kitty"? I will remember that advice, when I go out west.” 4:26:26 PM 2/23/05 “Look for small holes on the gound with webbing around it.Near termite mounds.Ornamental Baboon (Heteroscodra maculata)lives in trees so you might have a hard time finding this one.most of these are common in the area you are going to be in.I think it would be so cool too get pics of them in the wild. 8)” 4:36:59 PM 2/23/05 One of my favorites. “ ![]() King Baboon (Citharischius crawshayi) 8)” 4:43:49 PM 2/23/05 “Jeez, I thought you wanted monkey pics.” 4:45:02 PM 2/23/05
