“has anyone tried mary janes farm bpacking foods?” 3:59:45 PM 2/25/05 “Do they come in patent leather strap on shoes?” 4:00:32 PM 2/25/05 “oh no here we go. we will get to listen to Bison on how good they are.” 4:00:40 PM 2/25/05 “sorry, i didn't know” 4:06:56 PM 2/25/05 “Everyone should goto Wal Mart and spend $40 on a dehydrator and you can make your own dehydrated meals every bit as good as that crap... errrr... stuff. It's pretty good.” 4:11:00 PM 2/25/05 “That's what I do.” 4:11:27 PM 2/25/05 “deaddog, no problem. I haven't tried them but Bison has and likes them a lot. That is why I said what I did. I am sure he will post on here soon.” 4:12:00 PM 2/25/05 “I could also cut my own hair with the right tools.” 4:17:58 PM 2/25/05 “maybe i should look into a dehydrator all my hair is on my back. i have to tape a pair of shears to a pole last edited: 2/25/05 4:22:18 PM” 4:18:15 PM 2/25/05 “They're a great tool deaddog, just dehydrate something you like, and rehydrate it on the trail. It's a good idea to rehydrate a new recipe at home first though.” 4:20:21 PM 2/25/05 “I hear Enertia's better...” 4:29:30 PM 2/25/05 “Niga, where'd you hear that? ;~)” 4:35:41 PM 2/25/05 “I have never found any alleged backpacker food that is better than something you could dehydrate at home. Back in the early days of freeze-dried yummies, there was a company that made turkey tetrazini and a tuna casserole. Both were good, and I loved the TT. They eventually went out of business though because Mountain House came into being and everybody started carrying that stuff. I have not found a backpacker food since that I liked. I used to carry ramen noodles, Lipton Cup-A-Soup, freeze-dried beef or chicken. I could whip up a better meal that way than any of the prepared meals. Dehydrating ground beef or turkey is easy. It reconstitutes easily. You can dehydrate tomato sauce, chili sauce, whatever sauce. You can dehydrate a number of veggies. When it's reconstituted, it tastes as good as it would if you'd just cooked it in your kitchen, which for all intents and purposes you did.” 4:41:36 PM 2/25/05 ““Niga, where'd you hear that? ;~)” Bison told me so.” 4:46:09 PM 2/25/05 “When I first started backpacking in 1972 (Junior in high school) we took pilot biscuits and Mountain House. Once took MH sketti. There were not enough rocks to overturn in the Rockies that night. NASTY stuff. Now it\'s dehydrator. Done everything from Shrimp and Chicken Jambalya, to \'UpsideDown Sloppy Joes\', to \"Thanksgiving on the Trail,\" and SALAD! Not to mention much more! Dehydration is the way to do, er, except for your body.” 5:02:29 PM 2/25/05 “Be sure and get the one with the adjustable temp. It can do meat well (145-155 Deg.)” 5:59:13 PM 2/25/05 “Is such a pain to clean up the dehydrator tho! But man oh man, dehydrated cantaloupe is so yummy!!!” 6:05:44 PM 2/25/05 “Pixie....all you need to do is buy one baby bottle brush, and let your trays soak for 10 minutes or so in hot water, and then give a quick scrubby! As for meals, buy parchment paper and line your trays, stuff works so well for being non-stick! Or ya'all can come visit my website ;-) hehheh!! (Which I am going to do a nice update hopefully this weekend.) http://www.freewebs.com/freezerbagcooking/” 6:51:34 PM 2/25/05 “I do cut my own hair too...” 6:53:21 PM 2/25/05 “DeoreDX......why are you not at Sipsey waiting to meet me and be my sherpa???” 7:07:43 PM 2/25/05 “A Metro cut's his own hair????????????? You can't do that and not expect women to notice. It's a contradiction and sends confusing signals.” 7:09:27 PM 2/25/05 Alpine Aire foods? “Geobeet - I believe the company that made the "killer" turkey tetrazzini and tuna casserole (and some other good FD foods) was Alpine Aire. Their meals took some cooking to prepare properly, but they were fantastic. I was sorry to see them disappear.” 10:10:37 PM 2/25/05 divinity “Why ain't I at Sipsey? Long story involving a suprise Bday party, and making an offer on a house which someone put under contract 5 hours before I was to meet make an offer :( The "suprise" Bday party was very fun at least.” 1:24:49 AM 2/26/05
