Just got dumped

“I once had a really serious relationship for a few years. Everytime I wanted to go hiking I had hell to pay. I hardly ever got to go hiking. Then I got dumped. Now I go hiking all the time. Life is good! :)

“when I was on deployment they did a survey. I have been on three and on all of them from six months before, during the deployment, and six months after, 70% of marriages in the unit either ended or seperated. This was MP's that only left for six months at a time. It is tough but it is expected part of a deployment.”

“I'm an FO with the 1-120th FA 32nd Infantry WIARNG. I volunteered to go to Iraq with the 256BCT out of LA. I was attatched to 1st Cav until they left and now 3rd ID is taking over. Right in Baghdad. Its an experience that I'll never forget or that I'll never want to go through again. When all is said and done though, I'm glad I did it. Thanks for the support guys,

“I had a buddy in the Navy who gave his wife complete power of attorney when we left on a float. when we came back 9 months later, she had emptied the bank accounts, sold the house and moved into some other guys house, he said he was also divorced, but I can't imagine that power of attorney goes that far.”

This seems like a good thread to tell a story that happened two years ago. I was lucky enough to get some courtside seats to a Bulls game. So I took my then 8 year old son. We were near the bench and the locker room entrance so he had an opportunity to get players' autographs. The opening flag ceremony was performed by six Marines. After the ceremony, the six guys were seated directly in front of us, which made Tucker so excited. After they had sat down he whispered to me, "Can I ask them for their autographs?" He was in such awe of them. I told him, "Of course." So he tapped the shoulder of the guy on the end and asked him. You could tell the Marine was just tickled. He signed Tuck's paper and passed it down the line. To this day, Tucker has saved those six autographs but he promptly lost all the players' autographs as they just weren't important to him.”

My cousin was a POW. He came home to find out his wife had been with another guy for a couple years. She hadn't been waiting for him at all. He was doing great last time I saw him. Can't imagine what it felt like to come home to that news though.”

“I don't have a close brother or friend that is serving currently in the Armed Forces. Perhaps you might enlighten us to the actual status of this deployment. I did a hitch or two in Southeast Asia. I ran a long range reconnaissance patrol that was all over the map if you catch my drift and things were not right then so I feel things are not right now. Iam told by those returning home to our area VA Hospitals that life is one big gurellia war over there. It goes without being said that thanks are in order here but more important in my eyes is the fact that you FO's are a grunts best friend. I had burst transmissions to communicate with and Arc Strikes were my calling card. Hope you have BIG GUNS as well. Take Care of yourself and your fellow soldiers around you. May God Bless You and Keep You Safe. Come Home and Let's go backpacking . Stay in touch. Will send Care Package ASAP... anything special you might need?”

“We have 155MM's and 105mm's. Also any air asset you could think of. AC-130's F-15's, 16's, 18's, AH-64's. The only problem is, it is a gurella war and its hard to find targets. We end up shooting a lot of Illum and area denial missions. We've lost all of our men to IED's (Road side bombes), not to small arms. As for the big up armored hummers...#&%!$ I'd like to put any politician in one and tell them there might be up to 500 pounds of explosives burried in the road and see how safe they feel. Don't get me wrong they have saved lives, but if we spent that money on better training and more soldiers we would be a lot better off. Send us some arabic speaking Americans.”

“Sunshine, I listen to just about anything, but rap. I'm on my 4th cd walkman now. I keep breaking them, but the PX usually has more. Its an endless cycle.”
