“First, the background:

I am an admitted extremist. Not necessarily proud of it, just an admission of reality. Whenever I get into something, I REALLY get into it.

I've been backpacking for more years than I care to admit to, so, I have more gear than one could reasonably imagine one human being owning. Heavyweight, lightweight, summer, winter, you name it, I bought it.

I have a 3 car garage, and I can't get one compact car into it. Not ALL of that space is taken up by my toys, but most is.

Well, for various reasons I've now decided that my next big hobby is ocean kayaking. SOOOO, because I promised my better 1/2 that I'd do no more "new" hobbies without paying for it by getting rid of all the stuff I no longer use from my "old" hobbies, I HAVE A TON OF STUFF FOR SALE! I'm selling everything from backpacks to thermarests to sleeping-bags to liners to stoves to pots & pans, etc. I have a canoe, two inflatable kayaks, 9 different rod/reel combo's for everything from fly-fishing to surf-casting, and so much other stuff I get sick thinking about it!

SO... if you need some backpacking gimmick, I probably have it!

Because I have so much I wanna sell, it's easier for you to tell me what you need than me tell you everything I have! Send me an email or post here, I'll give you the best deal I can, I just want to get rid of all the good stuff I have that's not being used, and help pay for my new kayak!”

1. My "ultra-lite" bag is a MH Phantom 32 & I'm keeping it.

BUT... I do have a MH "crazy-legs" 20 deg bag I'll sell you. 3lbs 4 oz., it is rated at 20 deg but I've used it down to 12-15, it's a great bag (550 down). I forget what I paid for it...it's about 3-4 years old, I think $155.00. How about 1/2 price, $75.00? No, wait, how about $55.00?

2. I don't know if there's such a thing as an UL white gas stove since the bulk of the weight is the fuel itself! I have a Whisperlite WG stove, my cannister is a Snow-Peak Giga. I wanna keep both, so can't help you there.”

I have three diff types of liners.. I have two commercially made "heavy" fleece liners, have a zipper sewn in, probably 1.5 lbs each. These will probably add 20 deg to your sleepy bag rating.

I also have two "homemade" fleece liners... went out to a store, bouht some material (estimating 300+) & sewed it up myself. Probably will add 15 deg to your rating.

Finally, I have a silk liner that I'm keeping. Not because it adds a great deal in terms of temp rating, but because it keeps my bag clean. Maybe adds 5 degrees, whoppee.”

I have a couple that might suit you. If you want a multi-piece (5) pack-rod, I have that, if you just want standard 2-piece light-weight graphite I have that. If we meet up, I'll bring all... I have about 9 rod/reel combo's. email me.

Sell you a PEAK One pack (actually a very good pack) for $50.00. Or... alternatively, a Kelty Morraine for $50.00. Peak has advantages... larger ci capacity & detachable hood... Kelty probably has beter "compartmentalization" capabilities... will show you both, you decide.”

Also, for you others who asked about other stuff.... I don't have any of what I consider "luxury" items... "Chairs", "Down Pillows", etc., you want a "chair"?, go to some other place, IMHO, not a BP place.”

I make no apologies for wanting a luxury now and then. I find a down pillow does wonders for my sleep, and not because I'm a light sleeper - quite the opposite. I'll sleep through anything, which means I wake up in the morning feeling like I just played a football game rather than good a night's sleep. A simple comfort like a pillow makes the rest of the trip that much more enjoyable, and since I'm not getting paid to backpack, I figure enjoying myself is why I'm there. After all, it's my back, both to sleep on and to carry stuff.”
