Pennsylvania AT overnighter Anyone?

“Crazypace and I saw these two friends on the Appalachian Trail today on Peters Mountain.


We hiked 9.6 miles from PA route 325 tp PA route 225. It was great weather and a very nice dayhike.”

“anyone want to meet for a small dayhike on the AT tomorrow late afternoon. I am going to head up to Duncannon and hike from 322 to 225, I believe that is 6 miles. If no one goes, I'll do an out and back. I plan to start at 6ish tomorrow afternoon.”

ENS and I are going up early to hike and bag 2 more peaks before the big day hike on saturday.”

6am. You would have to leave very early, or just head up to the campground. Check in isnt till 12 noon anyway.”

“it's a pretty hardcore trip, but there are options. You can hike to the halfway mark which is 14 miles or the whole trail which is 26 miles. But we will only be carrying daypacks. It's an awesome trail, but very difficult. It will be a lot of fun and camping will be a great time. Come and join us if you can. Like crazy said, we'll be leaving out of his place at 6am Friday morning. He lives in Eastern PA near Allentown.

“He said that he was giving me the employee price. The difference came up with my trade in. He was only offering me $8500 on my car and I owe like $13. But he gave me the GMC price, less $2000 rebate, my payments would have been around $430/mo and I need them around $365. “so here is the update..i wore no makeup to work and i stayed out late last night to get the baggy eye appearance so everyone should be asking about my health leading to me playing hooky tomorrow which would lead to camping”

“I checked, its only 16.4 total. the shelter is 5.4 miles in. Not bad for a night hike.
dont know how many or if there are tent sites near the shelter. I would like to use the hammock, depends on the weather.
we should easily be out by noon.”

“cool. Friday night we should hike into the shelter, but if we spot any decent campsites along the way, maybe set up camp there.”

“crazypace, your plan sounds good to me. That looked like a pretty nice place to camp and should block some of the rain. I take it you won't be testing out your hammock then?”

I'm actually looking forward to a 16 mile day. I took back the vasque trail runners today and got montrail's. The guy told me a couple people had the same problem, so I decided to go with a different brand.”

“so the plan is to get there Friday night. Shuttle cars, then car camp on the trail, across the creek at 325 Friday night. Saturday hike north to 443, which is 16.5 miles. Right?
