yo bear - coming in that way is more like 3 miles and definately four stream crossings - its a nice hike however assuming you don't miss the stream crossings and end up bush whacking

one correction to my directions above (10:09 post) - if you drive past the trailheaad parking and drop off the ridge you end up in Edgemont - not Pineola like I mentioned above. Pineola is where you pick up Old Jonas Ridge Road - I had the two names reversed in my old memory file

I expect to be in camp Thursday night so don't be surprised to see a hammock with a big green tarp when ya'll arrive - I expect to be out hiking on Friday unless the weather turns out worse than it looks at this time - so I may or may not be there to say hi when ya'll arrive.

If all goes as planned we'll be at camp before dark on Friday. We're sill not sure if Cabana Boy and his girlie friend are going to tag along. TWB really wants to bring Fred (his precious Gibson) but won't risk him in bad weather.

Ok, I think I can find the trailhead.

Hopefully, I can then find the camp seeing as how I don't have a map.

I will probably leave West Knoxville around 5 (unless I can find a good reason to see clients in Newport tomorrow afternoon).

I am guessing I can be there by 8.

Arrival
Hey gang! Just wanted to let you guys know that I may have to work a bit late Friday so, depending on what time I get to escape, I may not be at camp until Saturday morning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Either way....see you this weekend.

“Yo Blue ridge parkway, Mile marker 305.5 country rd 1511. Follow that rd, aprox 5 miles, to a small town of two houses. Continue on the 1511 rd to find parking lot on right, prior to crossing a small bridge of the stream you will be hiking. Lost cove trail begins there.Look at the stream, trail runs to the right of this stream and I believe there is a brown and yellow sign. Follow the downstream trail blazed in white 1.3 mile we will be on the right of trail ,cant miss us.
THESE ARE DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS THAN HOI IS GIVING YOU!
I have a couple packs of red hots, buns, Mustard and catsup. With some soft drinks. Water is good there, IMHO!”

you are oh so right Ewker!
Just returned home after a Very disappointing attempt at finding the place. Too much fog and rain didn't help the situation either. Ended up getting "sea sick" going around way too many curves on a very washed out dirt road! Finally made it back to pavement, but god knows where I actually was. Managed to find my way back to Morganton, but was too tired and disheartened to stay, so I drove back home arriving here at 2 am. My fault really, left work late and tried to find the place in the dark. I still don't know where I missed the Forest Rd. 494? Was rosey to that point. May try again in the morning, but alot will depend on the weather. Going to bed a very sad and still "sea sick" Creekjumper! Night all. ;(
