Wow, I'd really love to make this trip this time. It's not going to happen again this year, though. My son's graduating from highschool that weekend so I'm thinking....no.

Next time guys, next time.

Wow, they grow up so fast. It seems like just yesterday, I was sitting around a campfire with him, cracking jokes about you and G00SE pumping water. So where's he going to college?

He's going to stay local (Augusta State) for a couple of semesters and then transfer. Probably Georgia Tech unless he changes his mind again. So I'm having a Woohoo! He's going to stay home!.......Oh crap, he's going to stay home! experience.

One could say I'm have mixed feelings on the subject.

That's probably a good idea. My daughter is talking about possibly going to UAH (University of Alabama in Huntsville) and staying the dorms. Best of both worlds, there.

Well, his original plan was just Georgia Tech but there's a girl involved now and she's staying local. G00SE and I bot thought this was a better plan anyway, so I guess everybody's happy.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled trip planning. Sorry guys!

Are you guys really going to bring in a banjo and guitar? If I tell TWB I'm sure he'll figure out a way to bring his.

As far as an upright goes, Cabanaboy plays one. some how I don't think he'd be willing to tote it in. But oh the image of it is great!

PS. I did meet om on my first major trip. I was coming up the back of Blood Mtn and she was coming down with rad, gojo, and sarabelle. I think we all talked for a grand total of 15 minutes. That's been maybe 4 years ago.

Yo Bear!! Feelin the love mon!! Thanx for dates update y'all, I WILL be thar! Bear I'll give you a hollar soon, I'll need some supplies, tent, small pack; and do I need my boots? Don't know if I'll brang them if I don't really need'em. Clothing items and grub I can swing.

Ghost an Baume, I can tote my upright kazoo (if I lay on my back to play it), that's about the uppermost extent of my incredible music talents, hehehe.

Hey ghost, about how far is that from Asheville? What's the Lost Cove near, so's I can scrum up a map and directions. And Lost Cove? Izat whur they're filming Lost, might catch me a boar, or a T-rex!

Looking 'fard to catching up on old times, meeting some new peeps. Been a lawng time!

Glad you can make it naked ape.

Lost Cove is near Linville, NC in Avery county, about 70 miles from Asheville.

The map you need is the [u]Wilson Creek Area Trail Map[u] put out by the USFS.

You probably won't see a boar, because a pamster has been known to pervade the area. And trust me, pamsters do NOT like wild pigs. By the way, has anyone heard from gojo?

Good Lord, now we have an old time TT'er coming all the way from Italy that I won't get to meet. All these folks who were very active when I first starting reading this board are all meeting up for a trip.

I once saw a fisher (ya know, a large weasel like creature something like a pine marten there in Lost Cove) and they are said to be nonexistent south of West Virginia.

Geez Ghost. You would have to bring up the wild pig thang. At least I know there ain't no armadillos in the area.

Looks like Cabana Boy and his girly friend are going to tag along too. Careful gang, she's a hiking virgin.

HOI, if I remember correct from my trip out there you hike down about a 1/4 mile to the creek then turn right, go a few hundred yards and you come to a bend with a very large, wide flat area next to the creek with about 10 fire rings? Beautiful spot.
hyway
12:44:31 PM
4/15/05

approximately correct - you hike down the Hunt Fish Tr. coming out at the Hunt Fish Falls (aka the swimming hole) and you go right to the flat spot you mention but 1.) length of Hunt Fish Tr. is closer to 1 mile than to 1/4 mile and the number of fire rings that I remember is only about 5 but they are large ones
Hog On Ice

closer to a mile you say, no wonder I felt like death warmed over hiking back up to the care after finishing the loop. I didn't really count the rings, they were covered with snow, I just made an estimate :).
