Poor Buzz Buzz. They gave him 2 enemas, and he now gets prescription strength laxative drops 3 times a day for the next week. He's already close to being back to his usual pain in the a$$ self though; he's complaining again. Scary part is he actually likes the laxative drops.”

Fred was purchased the day Mr. Rodgers passed away, what was that two years ago? I'm pretty sure it's his air bladder because he really as to work super hard to get to the top of the bowl (sometimes he doesn't make it and he only tries for food) and then he sinks like a stone. He's old for a fish I guess.”

“Sass, I keep rooted peace lilies in the fish bowls; sometimes the betas sleep on top of the leaves, sometimes under. Maybe you could put something in the bowl to keep him at about midlevel?”

Ferrets are supposed to live about 8 or 9 years and she was almost 5. She had an action-packed life, though.

I'm just thinking of the little adventure she had the last time I took her car camping, back in November. It was about time to turn in and I'd already put her in the tent. I had to get up again, and forgot to zip the tent Completely closed. When I got back in, just 20 seconds later... no Weasel!

I grabbed her 'squeaky toy' and started squeezing it (they respond to this noise for some reason)... and she came running from the other side of the campsite, half drenched and covered in sand... !

Ya can't turn your back on those little suckers for an instant! *G*”

“Well, looks like I need to take the big Red boo boo kitty to the vet tomorrow. He needs his shots, and HPM just possibly broke his tail by shutting it in the door. Now the end droops a little. Poor thing. Poor HPM, he feels like a total s--t right now.”

“seems as though my dog somehow removed a 1/4 " chunk of toenail exposing the very red "quick" within. the vet said to keep it clean (which the dogs seems good at) and watch for infection, poor guy.

Bummer treebait, that sucks.”

“Yep, Red has the most beautiful bushy tail too. I hope the end doesn't fall off, like it did on my aunt Linda's cat. It drooped lower and lower until one day the cat ran by with only half a tail. She sent her eldest child looking for the rest of it. It was in the clean laundry basket, of course.”

“tree, is your cat an inside cat? If so, I don't think they need any shots. Even dogs that are not exposed to other dogs do not need as many shots which are associated with your pet coming into contact with another sick pet.”

“He's an indoor/ outdoor cat. He tried running out the front door tonight, hence the tail incident. I kinda reset it straight. He's okay now. He still needs his booster shots though.”

“WTF? Daphne has been having diarrhea, and has been vomiting off and on now for three days. Took her to emergency vet(85.00 to visit), and they wanted to do 625.40 worth of xrays, injections, fluids, etc. SInce this is something that she goes through once in awhile, I opted to bring her home and monitor the situation, and hope that whatever it is, passed through. She finally ate the burger and rice I made her last night and drank water. The diarrhea is still here, and this morning, she vomitted all the burger and rice. Sometimes, her nose is warm and sometimes its cold and wet. Everything looks normal when it comes out. No more bloody stool and vomit is just that...vomit. COuld dehydration cause all this? The emergency vet did say I could give her 5mg of Pepcid AC twice a day which I did yesterday. I really do not want to pay that amount of money and hope that one more day until I can take her to her vet will be okay. Anyone else experiencing anything with their pets in this weather?”

“Shelby has been eating fine here, no trouble with vomiting or diarrhea. SOunds like she may just have a bug in her system. If she is drinking water, I would think it will pass. Did she drink some stagnant water outside the house?

Shelby does have a partially torn ligament in her back left knee. She is on the same meds I am on for my knees. I guess the bad knees will now run in the family. 3 days ago she was not able to put any weight on the leg, but this morning she has put weight on all 4. The doctor said that if the meds do not work, we will have to take her down to Purdue for surgery. Cannot imagine what that will cost.”

“Buddurdog may never hike again due to an injury a few weeks ago.

Vet thinks it's a torn ligament. Regardless, Buddurdog doesn't want to use his right back leg and hurts when he does use it.

It'll be almost 3 weeks by the time the "specialist" can see him this Tuesday.”

“Wolfeyes that happens every year through the summer to my parents' dog. Sometimes it takes a week to get the dog to eat again. The vet keeps giving the dog flagyl. I don't think giardia or any other flagellate organism is the actual cause (the damn dog eats mushrooms in people's yards) but it reassures my parents. Just keep her hydrated. Give her diluted gatorade too, if she'll drink it.

“Well, just got home a second time from the emergency vet. After x-rays and an in-house blood test, still no definitive diagnosis. She is throwing up blood now which was why I took her in again today. Will take her to regular vet in the morning tomorrow and have them do a fecal exam. Emer Vet said it would be much cheaper to have my vet do it and the lab results from the big blood test will be in by then. So far, the only thing the x-rays indicate is a slightly swollen liver. Could be anything. She is one tired pup. I just hope its something treatable and not a liver disease. Damn...”

“Oh, and so far, total for no diagnosis is $676.00. That is some serious beer and gear.”

“dang wolfie that sucks, the emrgency vet is a killer for sure. The only time we took a dog there we dropped $700 is 6 hours, youch.

Our pointer pucked all day after nordhouse years ago but she ate some nasty stuff too. I hope daffers gets better soon.”

“Yeah, I know she ate some sand when I gave her the hotdog. I have no clue as to what it is. But, like I said, I will know more tomorrow and I hope she gets better soon too...makes my heart heavy.”

“Don't know if your dog's problem is anything like our dog's...

Our dog has had chronic liver problems for years. She presented with severe diarrhea. She's been on Science Diet(prescription) 'G/D'. Without that and meds, our vet said a number of years ago that she would not be with us. She's nearing 15.

Hope your dog can be treated with similar results.”

“Well that's what I call mine these days but when I bought him I thought he was a Toy Fox Terrier, then I thought he was a mix of Jack Russell and Toy Fox, and now I think he is a mix of Jack Russell and some other kind of terrier.”

Can the problem be from feeding her 'people' food. I'm not trying to be mean, just asking. I've heard a lot of human food is very bad for dogs.”

“Pepper gets a lot of people food and seems to have no trouble with it. We just have to control his access to it. Unlike his regular food which he can eat at will, and does so when he is hungry and until he is full, people food he will gorge on until he pukes.”
