Hey all, I just got back from my trip down to Big South Fork National Recreation Area, and I just thought I would post a note up here since the place was so awesome. The rock formations there really make you think that you are in southern utah with a few more trees. There are some giant rock arches and pretty cool waterfalls. The park is right on the border of Tennessee and Kentucky, north of Knoxville. We did a pretty nice 20 mile circuit over 2 nights, and there are enough trails and terrain to keep you out there for weeks if you wanted. I would highly reccomend putting Big South Fork on your list of places to visit. The park webpage is http://www.nps.gov/biso/ and my pictures from the trip are at http://chuckles.servebeer.com/pics/thumbnails.php?album=36.

Somebody comes in here, gives a trip report instead of a political lecture, and gets creamed.

I am glad he enjoyed it and at least for me, it is great to see some raw enthusiasm about hiking around here.

TD is already in a bad mood from having grouse about those kids being rescued from the GSMNP.

The BSF is a great place. I wish it were a little closer so I could spend more time there.

I love BSF. I got several trip reports. I just was giving the guy crap cos most of the pictures I looked at seemed to be pictures of car camping, and bonfires -- so I was wondering where they actually hiked??..

Currahee: hey.. who you calling a freak. ;)

floated the river last year...
almost died while running the serious rapids...It was a blast. Nothing like a near death white water experience to make you feel alive...the best is surviving and telling the tale...whoo hoo...hike on you peasants...real life is on the river.
