Where to take a good backcountry first-a id class?View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 8 of 8 messages posted.
“I am from the Nashville area, but go to school at TTU in Cookeville. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what routes to take to find a good wilderness first-aid class to participate in. We have a few backpacking courses at school, but they are more geared to the beginner and only briefly touch on wilderness first-aid. Any suggestions would be great.” 12:02:23 PM 3/11/05 “Saturday – Sunday April 16-17 - 3rd Annual Wilderness 1st Aid Training. Join us for the third annual Sierra sponsored wilderness first aid training (WFA) at Fall Creek Falls State Park. Landmark Learning, LLC, will perform the training again this year. WFA is a 16 hour/2 yr certification course which covers the most common traumatic, medical, and environmental issues that occur in the backcountry. $135 payment due by March 15th. Check the Tennes-Sierran for detailed information and the signup form. For questions, contact Katherine Pendleton at 615-943-6877 evenings or email Katibug1959@aol.com.” 12:12:32 PM 3/11/05 “I can vouch for that Bison also. Good stuff! I recommend you supplement it with a CPR course.” 12:15:30 PM 3/11/05 “There's a Trail Talk U in Cookeville? WhereTF is Cookeville?” 12:19:33 PM 3/11/05 “Personally I wouldn't touch anything sponsored by the Sierra Club with a 150 foot pole, but since he asked... I wonder if that's the Katibug who posts here? I think I met her at the fierry gizzard, I met some TTer there but don't remember who it was, need to add them to my "Who have you met" list. Who were you fierry gizzard person?” 12:22:19 PM 3/11/05 ““Personally I wouldn't touch anything sponsored by the Sierra Club with a 150 foot pole..." Why not Bison?” 12:58:37 PM 3/11/05 “Why not? Bunch of freaking whackos, that's why not.” 12:59:39 PM 3/11/05 “Yes, Bison. That was Katibug at the Fiery Gizzard. She is some kind of officer for the Nashville Chapter of the Sierra Club.” 1:16:55 PM 3/11/05
