a hiker in China “Hi buddys,i am a hiker in city of Shenzhen, China.i'd like to share some hiking experiences with you. We resently creat an English version of our website, welcome to our hikers' home and welcome to China. here is the link: http://forum.doyouhike.net/ut/board_show.cgi?id=99&age=30&pg=1” 2:22:28 PM 3/12/05 “Welcome to Trail Talk(TT), kds. Your link provides an interesting site. Do you have a special reason for your English version, besides wanting to share trail experiences? I looked at "Tricks on how to stay dry." I liked: Bring two half-liter bottles. However, this may not work in freezing temperatures. I prefer to place wet socks against my body. By morning they are dry and warm. BTW, my last two daughters are 25% Chinese(beautiful and intelligent). My last wife was Chinese. Some of my closest relatives(by marriage) are Chinese. The nearest I have been to China is in the East China Sea(during the 1988 Olympics in Korea). Good luck with your English site page. I hope you find some good ideas here on TT. You may not get any more posts from me for a while. My computer may be disconnected from the Internet at any time now, as I prepare to leave home for two to four months of mountain backpacking. last edited: 3/12/05 4:14:24 PM” 4:08:13 PM 3/12/05 “Hi there kds! Welcome to Trail Talk! :-) (Wo Meng Hwang Ing Ni) I'm interested in finding out about hiking trips in China! I hope you will post here about some of the hikes in China--I think it would be great to hear about them from a "local" perspective! I also visited your site and am having a little difficulty navigating your site... :-) If you can include more English "buttons" to help people find the information, that would be great! My ethnic background is Chinese (born in the USA)-- I speak Mandarin, but I do not do too much reading or writing. The first (and last) time I visited was in 1985... but other members my family has been there within the last 20 years and have told me about the incredible changes over the years.... I am interested in finding out more about hiking experiences in China, because I would like to see the beauty of the country, not just the big cities. I love to take photographs and would be excited to view the beautiful landscapes that are often depicted in the paintings... :-) I hope you will post often! :-)” 8:07:18 PM 3/12/05 “to nowlimmer: our web site is the biggest hiking forum in south china, since there are lots of foreigners in our city, and we want to make it more international,so come the E-version. of course to share hiking experiences are more important, cause you guys are more professional.i admire you have such long vacation to backpacking in mountain and wish you a good luck. to pinkbubelz: 我们欢迎你(you may not see this Chinese words)--wo men huan ying ni, haha. for i stated before, our E-version is a new born baby,it need time and its on the way. i'd like to share more hiking experiences in China later but i was really not good in English. maybe you will find out some useful informations in our doyouhike.net in the future and i'd like to give you more links. you should come to China more often cause we got a lot of landscapes for you. 再见--see you:)” 1:24:22 AM 3/13/05 “Sweet! thebackpacker goes international.” 8:24:33 AM 3/13/05 “Hi kds-- I do see your chinese text! :-) and recognize most of it... :-) (learned "traditional" vs.. simplified, but I can still read what you've written! :-) Can't afford to go to China this year, but hopefully in the future-- I would love to have my husband see it--He isn't Chinese but he actually knows a little more about history because he took a Chinese History class in college... :-) I've taught him some Mandarin, so he can say some simple phrases... :-) If any of the people on your site would like to visit the U.S., I am sure that people on Trail Talk would love to tell them about wonderful places to hike over here! (Maybe one day some of us can go hike in China as a group!) I will look forward to your English links on your site about some of the places to hike in China. :-) Please visit this site often. We are very friendly and we'll help you practice your English! :-)” 1:23:53 PM 3/13/05 “Nice!! I hope this thread wasn't killed by the political comment.” 9:58:48 AM 3/15/05 “Ok, let's dispatch Match (who is still in China) to meet and verify the identity of this new TT'er.” 10:01:27 AM 3/15/05 “I think the political comment killed any further participation. They are returning for two months in April and invited me to go with them. Round trip air fare is only around $800. I would go with them, but I want to be at my youngest daughter's college graduation in May. But maybe I will get to China soon. It would be great to meet you and some of your friends.” 6:33:32 PM 3/15/05 “to Gremlin: our site is www.doyouhike.net,of course it is in Chinese:) and the English page is http://forum.doyouhike.net/ut/board_show.cgi?id=99&age=30&pg=1 i am in city of Shenzhen,Guangdong province, the neighbor of Hongkong. to nowslimmer:good to hear that,if you come to Shenzhen, pls contact me.i can email my cell phone No. to you if you wish.” 1:09:46 AM 3/18/05 “Thanks, kds, fun site.
