Pictures and stuff “Hi folks, I'm new to TT and wondered if anyone would mind explaining how to post pictures etc. to a message. Several days ago, someone was asking about building wood strip canoes. I thought, if it's appropriate, I'd post a photo or two. By the way, the TT section has been very entertaining and I look forward to getting to know you all.” 3:02:02 PM 3/15/05 You too can be a photo poster “It's easy now. All you do is type (or use copy and paste) the url for the photo, highlight it, and click the Img button above the message box.” 3:05:24 PM 3/15/05 “First, put the pictures on a web server that allows you to hotlink them, like photobucket.com. Do not attempt to hotlink photos from Webshots, they don't allow it, but because the picture is in your web cache, you will be fooled into thinking that you have successfully posted. Second, obtain the URL of the picture which you wish to hotlink into a thread, and copy the URL into your paste buffer using Ctrl-C. Or you can type the whole thing into a message, whatever works best for you. Third, use one of the two following methods to post the picture. Either use the HTML img tag to post the picture, like so: <img src="http://www.thebackpacker.com/pictures/users/happyhiker101/koz0see2/poq9va.jpg"> or paste the URL into a message, highlight it, and press the "Img" button above the message box in the "Post a Message" field of the thread. Voila! You have just posted a photograph in a thread on TT.” 3:07:24 PM 3/15/05 “OHHH you build your one? ok here is my request.. one solo kayak green please, nothing fancy, just a sweet yakker. by the way aboard” 3:07:34 PM 3/15/05 “if you build it, I will come!” 3:08:22 PM 3/15/05 Thanks “I'll find a place to put them as soon as I can. Meanwhile, thanks for the help” 3:15:17 PM 3/15/05 “this means no new kayak? :(” 3:19:52 PM 3/15/05 See if this works. 3:27:36 PM 3/15/05 ye haaa “It works!! Mapleleaf, all things come to those who wait.” 3:29:44 PM 3/15/05 “Well, you linked to the album. Now, to post the pics, display one, and right-click on the picture, and choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu. Highlight and copy the URL from the properties page, then paste that into a message http://thebackpacker.com/pictures/users/canoeman/xkd24s4k/b6vomv.jpg Highlight that, and press the Img button: ![]() Ta da!” 3:30:51 PM 3/15/05 Genius! “Thanks, I appreciate the help.” 3:34:07 PM 3/15/05 “Oh, Sweet! That's one lovely canoe!” 3:38:35 PM 3/15/05 “if you build it, I will come!” mapleleaf 3:08:22 PM 3/15/05 Dang! Change a couple of letters in that last word and a new quote is born! ;-)” 3:40:12 PM 3/15/05 “hardy har har....” 3:42:07 PM 3/15/05 Thank you “Thanks Treebait. I enjoy building them. I'm beginning a 19 foot square stern. I'll keep you posted on the progress.” 4:05:53 PM 3/15/05 “you do very good work. your lucky to be able to build them. I wish I had time to build a new boat.” 4:07:33 PM 3/15/05 “That really is a beauty!” 4:10:45 PM 3/15/05 “That is a work of art. I'd be afraid to put it in the water.” 4:13:33 PM 3/15/05 “pretty!” 4:17:07 PM 3/15/05 That's what they're made for! “They need to be in the water, they aren't happy in the garage (my wife isn't happy with them in the garage either!). The thing about wood is that if you damage it, you can fix it. As far as the time thing...build when you can, wish you were building when you can't.” 4:17:38 PM 3/15/05 “Nice. Where's your price list?!” 4:31:14 PM 3/15/05 Price list “Prices vary by materials and length, but a general rule of thumb is-16 footer = $5000.00 plus shipping. I've sold a few but I don't make a living at it.” 4:36:08 PM 3/15/05
