Buchanan at his Best!View Messages“What an odorous thread.” 6:08:01 PM 3/20/05 “Sol - Originally I did find it hard to get past the fact that Buchanan, as an enthusiastic aide to Nixon, wanted Nixon to do more to obstruct justice during the Watergate investigation and seems to have had few regrets except that Nixon didn't take his advice and destroy the evidence he wanted him to destroy. But time has shown that he is more than just a Nixonian neer-do-well. I do get miffed with him sometimes, but his perspective is often interesting - whether or not I agree. I do feel that if we fail to take an interesty in the opinions of people with whom we have strong disagreements, that we sacrifice most of our chances to learn anything really interesting. Heck, I even read things by Bush and his boys. I seem to be about the only one who thinks they've learned anything useful from TT's fuego arguments. last edited: 3/20/05 6:26:10 PM” 6:23:44 PM 3/20/05 “Was World War II worth it? In the inflammatory world view of Pat Buchanan, the short answer is no. The war that stopped the Nazis' global campaign and the mechanistic extermination of European Jewry was actually not worth the effort. The commentator yesterday offered equally provocative answers to other questions: Why destroy Hitler? And why venerate FDR and Churchill? On the radio and Internet, Buchanan framed his positions as amplification of remarks made over the weekend by President George W. Bush that the pact ending the war brought on a Stalinist domination that was "one of the greatest wrongs of history." But Buchanan's comments on the Don Imus radio show and in an essay posted on the Web site of his organization, The American Cause, went much further. He suggested that because Germans voted Hitler in, they did not need to be liberated, and that Britain and France drew Germany into the wider conflict. He did not mention Jews or the Holocaust - the most outrageous omission for Yaffa Eliach, a Holocaust expert and survivor. "For me it is very important to present the truth, to show the murder," Eliach said. "The idea was to kill Jews." Abraham Foxman, president of the Anti-Defamation League, called Buchanan's comments "immoral" and "bordering on Holocaust denial. "But, you know, he has been there before," Foxman said. "Pat Buchanan in the past has challenged whether or not there were crematoria." Veterans were also insulted. "That is more or less saying they fought for the wrong reasons and the sacrifice was futile," said Veterans of Foreign Wars spokesman Jerry Newberry. "Buchanan apparently hasn't given much thought to what the world would have looked like if Hitler and his henchmen would have succeeded." Buchanan did not return calls yesterday. Former Mayor Ed Koch offered this blunt rebuttal: "I believe that no decent human being should ever sit down at the same table with Pat Buchanan and I am shocked that otherwise responsible, respectable citizens share platforms with him on Sunday shows." link” 11:29:24 AM 5/13/05 “I've often found myself on the other side of Ed Koch's arguments, but he's right-on there!” 11:32:09 AM 5/13/05 “Solitary Hiker's going to take a hostage if you guys keep this up.” 12:19:58 PM 5/13/05 “It might be a little hard to defend ol’ Pat on this one.” 12:25:38 PM 5/13/05 “Wow! That is one phractured phary tale of a history lesson. He leaves out amazing things regarding the allies and the Soviet Union - but most amazingly, he talks about the "ethnic cleansing of Germans," and Hitlers plan to dominate Clavs - but totally omitts the holocaust, anti-semetism, Jews and Gypsies. The guy thinks outside the box, alright - and sometimes he makes sense, sometimes - like this article of his - he writes something that is horifically whacked. Of course, crud like this makes me feel like ignoring him altogether.” 1:40:15 PM 5/13/05 “The hard part about ignoring him altogether is his loyal (almost devout) following of otherwise fairly respectable thinkers.” 2:32:54 PM 5/15/05 Pat Is Certainly Intelligent......... “"George Bernard Shaw used three concepts to describe the positions of individuals in Nazi Germany: intelligence, decency and Naziism. He argued that if a person was intelligent and a Nazi, he was not decent. If he was decent and a Nazi, he was not intelligent. And if he was decent and intelligent, he was not a Nazi.” After studying the appalling information in Killing Hope, you will know that you can replace the word “Nazi” in the above statement with the term “American patriot” (or “Zionist Israeli”) and it will be every bit as true. Permit me, therefore, to record an updated version of Shaw’s three concepts: If a person is decent and an American patriot, he or she is not intelligent. If a person is intelligent and an American patriot, he or she is not decent. And if a person is decent and intelligent, he or she is not an American patriot. A very useful rule of thumb."” 2:52:24 PM 5/15/05 Pat Is Certainly Intelligent......... “"George Bernard Shaw used three concepts to describe the positions of individuals in Nazi Germany: intelligence, decency and Naziism. Is Buchanan an American Patriot in your opinion? Are you agreeing with the quote? BTW: I can't agree with the quote. First of all it doesn't make sense unless you embrace some very weird definitions of "American Patriot" and "Intelligent." last edited: 5/15/05 4:54:28 PM” 4:45:55 PM 5/15/05
