I had not yet been outside when I was posting before.

If you're hearing about a snowstorm in the Midwest WE GOT IT, RIGHT HERE WHERE I LIVE!!

You know it's trouble when you step outside and it's up to your knee or slightly above. AND IT'S **NOT** A DRIFT!!!

I took some pics as I tried to get snow off the Jeep and some pics of my street. While I was out there, two snowmobiles went by, an ATV, and I talked to three people who were:
- Shoveling snow
- Snowblowing snow
- Measuring the snow

TWELVE FREAKIN' INCHES!!!

wow... and just yesterday I heard my co-worker whining about the "boring" winter, even wishing we'd get a snowstorm. I blame her... and the boys' state basketball tournament!!! LOL!

I haven't seen this much and this kind of snow in YEARS! It's light and fluffy. I got out of my parking spot in 4WD, no problemo. If the wind picks up, we're gonna have a blizzard, cuz it will be blowing all over hell!

We had a little snow here the other day. Well, not at my house, but at my kid's school, which is about three miles north, there was snow on roofs and cars.

That was sleet, Bit, at least at my house. The ground was covered, it came down for almost an hour Tuesday morning.

My dad calls me this morning at 8:00am, he's like "how's the weather" ummm... clear blue skies, why? "oh, by 5:30 this morning we already had 9 inches and it's still coming down, both your mom and I stayed home from work today"

I had to check it out for myself, I didn't believe him, lol.

It snowed in north GA a couple nights ago. I was considering driving up to see it, but that woulda had me too frighteningly close to TN. lol!

Co-worker the next town down said SIXTEEN INCHES!!

And actually, if it was up to my knee -- which it was -- that probably is more like 16 inches!!

Mapes, it's a running joke, at least in Iowa - and now I've discovered also in Minnesota -- that we always get bad weather when the state tournaments are going on. Well, not just a joke, but often true. It's ironic... people want to travel to either Des Moines or the Twin Cities and it storms, with roads notoriously bad.

I used to go to the Iowa state wrestling tourney. Weather ranged from snow and blizzards to temps of 60s. Ya just never knew! lol

Boys from Chatfield played at state yesterday (and lost). Boys from Rushford-Peterson supposed to play today, but... > Cancelled!!! lol

Stovestomper you are mean and heartless! How could you complain about it being fifty to a buncha northerners who haven't had a fifty degree day in six months?!

I sure hope that storm isn't coming our way! I was grumpy to see a dusting that covered the mud this morning. I better get over to NOAA....

It is time for winter to end. Of course March is our snowiest month. Just food for thought if any midwestern hikers want to get together for a weekend I have a camp in Polk County WI, huge firepit, gazebo, three hole crapper, maybe we could plan something. The camp is on the edge of about 1000 acres of public land with super simple easy walking trails. Not much snow is St Paul yet.....

Sounds nice squirrelbait.

Thank goodness, we're only gonna get freezing rain and rain. Should make the 73 mile round trip to school Saturday and Sunday fun. Better than snow at this point!

It would be so wonderful to be able to hunt for Easter Eggs outside.

I hope you're home Lizs. If not I wish you safe travels.

Storms like yours are great if you don't have to go anywhere. Gives one a sense of solitude in the city because everyone stays indoors.

Lizs, Just thought you should know I running around today wearing only shorts and a T-shirt. Cool wind upon my freshly shaven head, warmed by the late winter afternoon sun. I love that contrast... warm on one side, chilled on the other!

Yes indeedy, the goat, sad to say, Chatfield lost. They got behind around 10 points in the opening minutes and never made it up. My boss was up there taking pics.

Ooops, I was wrong! Rushford-Peterson played at the state tourney, their fans just couldn't get there. From the Star Tribune:

Snowbound fans miss R-P win
From Staff Reports
March 19, 2005 BBAL0319.NOTES

For many Rushford-Peterson fans, the Trojans' 58-40 Class 1A boys' basketball semifinal victory over Cass Lake-Bena was a return to the past.

Friday's snowstorm dumped so much snow on the two communities -- the towns of Rushford and Peterson are about 30 miles southeast of Rochester -- that many fans were not able to make the trip to Target Center.

"We had no buses -- no fan buses, no band bus, nothing," Rushford-Peterson coach Tom Vix said.

Making matters more complicated was a lack of television coverage, because the broadcast of KSTC (Ch. 45) does not reach that area of the state. Fans who wanted information on the game were forced to huddle around the radio, listening to the only local station broadcasting the game, KFIL (103.1 FM).

Rushford-Peterson forward Tyler Drinkall lives on a dairy farm, and his family was snowed in.

"It would have been nice to have them here, but I know they found a way to listen to the game," Drinkall said. "Hopefully, they'll be able to be here [Saturday]."
