Anyone else working tonight?

“Taking a minute break to vent over here.

I have an attorney breathing down my neck for a transcript that he should have ordered back in January. But no, he didn't want it then when the hearing took place. So I find out recently that now he wants it, and he needs it tomorrow. Work was slow in January. Of course, now at the moment I'm swamped. So after working all weekend, literally, and then all day this week and into the night each day, tonight I am still working. Grrrrrr I think I've worked 50+ hours since Saturday.

85 pages down. 70 pages to go. At least another 3 or 4 hours to type and proof it all.

Dang attorneys!!!!!!!!!!

But it will be nice to get the extra dough.

“LOL, actually I had a dep this afternoon (which dragged on interminably) and for the first time in ages I had to request an expedited transcript. I hated to do that with this being Easter weekend and all, but the cr will definitely get some extra pay for having it done by Monday.”

“I am at my workstation, which is at home, but not working.”

“That's not so bad. I wouldn't mind that. This particular transcript is from an Indiana matter. And the practice in this locale is that often the attorneys don't order at the time, which means the reporter doesn't get paid very much at all by their agency for just an appearance. Then he called up and said, I want it now. The agency didn't tell me right away and add to that my already very full workload. So I am scrambling to get it done to keep him happy, but there will be no expedited fee. :(

But I'd rather be too busy than twiddling my thumbs.

All right, I admit. That's what's making me crabby about it. I never mind expedites because it's always worth my while. I had one of those over Thansgiving. The dep was scheduled for 6 p.m. on the Wed. before Thanksgiving. And at the end, the attorny asked me if he could please have it by 8 a.m. Friday morning. I had no problem doing that for him. Plus, he's a good client of mine.

“I had visitors and I want to go backpacking over the weekend so I had to work late. Done now...wait and see, tomorrow I'll get a rush order. Always like that. Arrggggghhh”

“Tuesday evening I got a phone call after a long day of home re-habbing. The call was about a job app I put in a long time ago. They wanted to do a phone interview and then asked me for supplemental documentation within a few days. I'm working on the "suplemental information" right now, well I am taking a TT break.

But gotta get back to that letter.”

“work? nah, I am just pacing back and forth waiting for the next few hours to pass so I can start on my 10 day hike through Georgia and as much of NC as I can squeeze in....

“I'm here at work till 1 pm , so any night owls ever want to chat please, keep me awake. I have decided to buy a new pack and now I am just waiting for the funds so I can get out and start lugging it around. Might have to look into one of the summer trips or even a late spring on the trip board...”

“I just finished typing 158 pages!!!!!!! And yes, my fingers and wrists and elbows are killing me. Now I just have to proof it and I can go to bed. 6 a.m. is going to come fast.”

“I'm up but going to sleep or really going to lay down in bed and watch tv. It helps me sleep to be horizontal watching tv and not sitting up on the couch. Then my tiny chihuahua, Capri, will go under the covers and lay in the bend behind my knee to cuddle up as I lay on my side.

I just let my fingers do all the work while I zoned due to my recent sleep depravation. All this work of late, while nice on my bank account, has already made me miss out on two weekends of backpacking. I WILL NOT miss next weekend as well.”

As someone else said, we seem to either have the time or the money for our backpacking, but never both at the same time. (Unless you're Prosecutor.)
