one lucky kid is getting a couple extra days off over easter break. he received a 2 day suspension today for brawling in the schoolyard.

sooooo...he told me the story about how he thought he caught a watersnake today...when he realized that it wasn't a watersnake but a copperhead...

had to tell him AGAIN how dangerous snakes can be...and how no one wants to get bitten by a snake, but do get bitten anyway.

I have to take away from him what he loves [looking for and catching snakes] what am I gonna do huh? that really sucks!!

One thing I can tell you is that he isn't going to stop catching snakes no matter what you tell him. I know this because I was a boy his age once long ago. Best thing you can do is educate him. Buy him a snake identification book so he can easily identify the good ones from the bad ones. Educate him on the effects of being bitten.”

it's a western mud snake. not rare, but hard to find because they are in unusual spots. ...they haven't met my kid yet. hahahaha...well..now they have!

I do educate him, and I will educate him even more now. yupp...a book is a good idea. he had one, but it got ruined in the rain [guess what he did with it? yupp he took it on a snake/lizard hunting trip.

Jon loved it as did Luke. Tuck sat down and tried to choke it down. He had decided he didn't like it even before he tasted it for, you see, he saw -- horror of horrors -- something green in there (broccoli). His facial expressions were so funny I decided to video him. Then he proceded to barf all over his plate, the little demon. Of course, I put it on youtube. He is so proud.
