And this: "One of Bush's more brilliant moves was convincing the world he was a crazy dolt, and might actually go into another war." - is #&%!$ing hilarious.

You'll be telling us that the collapse of the world's financial system was part of the secret plan too. How about the recession? Unemployment?

y2, exactly how do you think we could have made these gains with Al Queda without doing what we did with Iraq? AQ was a very homogeneous, well established terrorist organization run by long standing leaders. Every member of the command and control structure was time tested and completely loyal to the organization. they had veruy extensive cell structure. had the backing of nations and could operate under the radar nearly anywhere with support through out these other nations. We could not penetrate that group at all.

So tell me, do you think we could have pulled them out of the caves amd mountains of Afghanistan? Didn't work to well for the soviets. What country would have helped us if all we did was flail our gums as we stayed within the borders of Afganistan, afraid to hurt any bruised feelings in the middle east?

We sent our troops to Iraq, where we could be supplied from the sea. Where we could operate in a massive wide spread operation where we weren't cut off from support by tremendous mountain ranges. We went to Iraq with our soldiers and AQ poured their heart and soul into pushing us out. They poured their command and control structure into Iraq. they poured their money and their blooded and veteran troops into Iraq. they poured their reputation into Iraq.

And they lost. Now they have no real leadership capable of what the dead and captured ones were able to do. We have forced other countries to freeze their assets and support our anti-terrorism activities abroad. Now they are left in their mountain caves. Its time to get them out odf there, true. but Iraq was a success. democracy has a real chance of growing there and too spread. But only if we don't pull the rug out from them.

Geez Hyway, and all it took was 4,000+ dead and 20,000+ mangled Americans and many thousands of dead and mangled Iraqi civilians and trillions of U.S. taxpayer's dollars.

So............it's over and done and Al Qaeda no longer exists??

Boy, I'll betchya Dubya is gettin' drunk this afternoon.

nope its not over. But we have made a change for the better there. And maybe democracy can flourish and spread. maybe the planet is just a little better off if democracy can flourish in the middle east. I know. I am a dreamer. Lots of Americans have given their lives all over the world for all the time the USA has existed. I think freedom and democracy is something worth spreading

You the one trapped in the mentality that if the American military is doing it, it must be the right thing to do. - y2

LOL - how do you come up with howlers like this?

it's whether the overarching strategy of the past seven years has been flawed - and it has been, fatally. - Y2

Not even close. On the contrary. As hyway points out, AQ Prime is irrelevant. AQ Jihadism has lost face in a profound manner. We have a lot of new cooperative ties with countries around the world, and there haven't been meaningful terrorist attacks in years.

You'll be telling us that the collapse of the world's financial system was part of the secret plan too. How about the recession? Unemployment? - y2

"I think freedom and democracy is something worth spreading."

The notion that freedom and democracy can somehow be "spread" is questionable at best, particularly "spread" by violence/military force.

Has it been worth the cost and has it worked??

You seem rather cavalier about loss of life as though it's just "one of those things".

"Lots of Americans have given their lives all over the world for all the time the USA has existed."

So this is no big deal, huh?

There are a lot of "ifs" in your "dream".

Hey, I question the federal governments action in everything they do. thats why I wish it was smaller and had less money in its and only concentrated on what it should, representing all states outside of the country, maintaining a standing army, protecting our borders and seeing to it that interstate commerce was duty free.

On the one hand GWB pulls one over on the whole world (except for a few TTers and some other truthers out there) with his "lies" in order to trump up support for his "illegal war" to make his cronies rich, on the other hand he's a classic dimwit who can't fool anybody.

Dang. Spreading Democracy!

According to her, the new substance 'is known as the American hum, which is an Iranian-manufactured glue that if applied to the skin, sticks to it and can only be removed by surgery. After they glue the anuses of homosexuals, they give them a drink that causes diarrhea. Since the anus is closed, the diarrhea causes death. Videos of this form of torture are being distributed on mobile cellphones in Iraq.'
