Drinking water

“I hike in vt and nh with my digs is it safe to allow them to drink from ponds and rivers
when I take them swimming or is the water just bad for humans I know that if I want to drink river water I need to use tablets

“It is a risk like everything else. If you get sick you will know you should have used tablets. I don't know of any study that has actually measured water contaminants.

I have drunk straight from streams with moving water, before with no problem, but it is a risk. I just don't know how much of a risk.”

“Dogs can get giardia in WA. Check with your local ranger station.
