What's Your Favorite Flower?

“Recently read Botany of Desire and today bought some daffodils, tulips, and irises. In the midst of studying mineralogy...I got distracted by just how different yet beautiful each of these flowers are.

Anyway, it lead me to wonder about a few things.

Three questions for you

1. What is your favorite flower?
2. Do you prefer red or white wine?
3. Do you prefer milk, dark, or white chocolate?

1. Wild lilies and any tropical flower
2. Red wine...on a Pinot Noir kick these days
3. Dark chocolate”

“I'm an adopted Tennessean. I love the Dogwood because of the way the flowers seem suspended in midair. Very ethereal.
Honeysuckles are great too. I'm going to plant them around the perimeter of my yard.”

“Gemini - I believe those are hyacinths. One of my friends only likes sweet wines. Recently found a kind that's been a big hit with her...Syrreh (sp?) I think it is. I also had this very sweet Greek wine in Tarpon Springs, Fl....daphinos (sp?).”

Mine:

1. Flower: Tulips. The green stems/leaves are so bright and cheery. And they come in so many pretty colors. I'm so glad to see them at the start of spring. Lucky for me the the tulip festival started today. Just an hour away, over 300 acres of tulips. Woo Hoo!


2. Red wine is the best. Pinot noirs are also my favorite.

3. All chocolate. Milk or dark tho. The white is ok. But it isn't really chocolate!”

Yes, I think they are lily of the valley. Ya beat me on the lilacs tho Geo. I was still typing about tulips. : )

I love lilacs. I miss my lilac bush at my condo. It was nice.”

If you like Reisling, Chateau St. Michelle from Washington state makes one of the best.

If you really want to splash out try Inniskilin. It's an Ice wine from Canada. Mucho dinero though.”

“I can't really pick a favorite flower because I don't pick wildflowers. But if I had to choose, I would say Indian Paintbrush is right up there with the best of them. I also love the combination of brilliant golden poppies in a field of bright purple lupine.

I prefer beer over wine but if I was forced to choose white or red or someone would shoot my mom, I would choose white.

I prefer milk chocolate. But that may have something to do with being a boob man all my life.”

Currahee, is the Moscato a Muscat? Seems the same. Perhaps Italian vs French word for the same? I've had some great Muscats, definitely sweet.

And thank you for clearing up the Shiraz/Syrah thing. I couldn't remember why there were different names for the same wine. Those crazy Aussies like to be different, I suppose. ; )

Y'all should come to visit me. I can ride my bike up the Burke-Gilman trail from my house to Chateau St Michelle in Woodinville for wine tasting. The Columbia winery is across the road. The Red Hook brewery is out there too. Something for everyone. LOL!

7 prefer red wine, 1 white wine, 1 blush, 1 lush who likes it all as long as it's sweet and 3 rebels - beer, bourbon, grape juice

5 prefer dark chocolate, 2 milk chocolate, 2 white chocolate, 3 who will gorge on it all, and 1 chocolate milk

Flowers are all over the place but Lilacs and Dogwoods have some weighted popularity

It's interesting to note that the White Wine drinkers all prefer the sweeter varieties of chocolate


Now we know what to pack in on future group trips: Red Wine and Dark Chocolate!

“it really surprises me. I always thought I am on of very few who likes dark chocolate. All my friends around me eat milk chocolate only. The chocolate selection in stores should tell you that milk chocolate is def. the bigger seller.

None the less...here on TT the maturity (huh? did I spell that correctly?) likes dark chocolate.

“I like Chardonnay wines like Fetzer which ranges from $7-$9 a bottle depending on where you buy it.

I like anemonies. I'm not sure if it's because as a single flower it's very pretty or because they are grown in groups and the cluster of colors are very beautiful. They are great for people looking for flowers that stay alive into the fall.

I like milk chocolate, but if it's mixed with dark in a truffle, than that's good too.

I forgot about gardenias. They are a pretty flower, but their aroma is like heaven. I think it's Jasmine that also has a wonderful aroma.”
