As far as I know, Lake Natomas requires a leash... I am going to drive over there today or tomorrow to scope it out.

I am thinking of coming with my canoe and maybe a couple of friends. Where are we meeting? Phadrus - It is dog friendly with a leash restriction (that a lot of people ignore). I will be leaving my girls at home but I would love to meet your puppy! It is also mermaid-friendly, if she doesn't have her nose buried in work.

Well Pepper, I went yesterday to Lake Natomas, Nimbus Flat is where I would like to go. It is off Hazel from Hwy 50... there is a boat dock and if you continue thru to the day use area. The first few spots on the right are Ideal... Dogs are allowed, but not on the beach or Lawned area.
I was hoping to hear from Wanderer by now, but this is probably where we will end up. I will make the "Official" call tomorrow Night...
BYOB and chips or salad...
Oh, everyone should also bring their own eating stuff. I'll have some paper plates, but not enough.

Hey all, sorry for the delay in getting back, WAAAY too much travel for me, been gone & very busy all week.

I just got a call from my old Venture Crew... they have a backpack trip planned this coming weekend & one of the leaders is in the hospital & won't make it... so, they asked if I could help out. I'd hate to see a half-dozen teenagers not be able to make the trip, so I agreed to go (I'm still a registered leader).

Sooo... I hate to do this but really think I should bail on the Natomas trip to help out the Crew. To me it seems the right thing to do.

bummer for us, wanderer. It would be a blast to see you. But I know you will have fun, and I hate to think of all those teenaged boys not having anything constructive do do for a weekend!

Lake Natomas
Nimbus Flat Recreational area at 12noon.

Snacks
and what ever you plan to eat... I will have limited Tri-tip and Chicken, so let me know if you want me to BBQ something special.
Please Post early what you intend to bring, so we don't have 10 bags of Corn chips and no salsa... or no Ice!

I'd love to make this trip & wish I could meet all the "new" BP folks from the Sac area... BUT... I am gonna be in the "big trees" on the Skyline-to-Sea trail, so... I'll be one very "happy camper", so-to-speak!

I guess this means we'll just have to have more local-get-together type outings! Everyone here...step up to the plate & plan an outing!!!

Hi Maria... how are ya? long time-no-see!

Let's see.... for the sharing I will bring....veggies and ranch dip and maybe some kind of drink. See ya Sunday.

Hi Wanderer, have fun and see you sometime. My son is excited, Ken. He looks forward to this event. He also had backpacked with Songbyrd a few times at Pt. Reyes and is also excited to see her again. Sierraguy98 of Norcal is going too.

Sorry I wont be able to join you all - would be good to see many of you again. I am flying up to Portland this weekend to do some visiting, relaxing and a day or so of hiking.

Hopefully I'll get to see some of you again at the upcoming Lost Coast hike.

Alright, I'll be there!

Let's see... I'll bring a dog (not for eating), some beer (I'll share if someone's extra nice to me), some steaks (from a cow), and some kind of side-dish thingy (I was thinking perhaps snails from the garden).

Should I bring my smoker or some charcoal, or what?

Charcoal would be great! The Grills they have are small:( So if you brought the Smoker that may help:)

Lost Coast
Yes, we're planning a trip to the Lost Coast on May 13-15. The plan is to drive up and camp Friday night and do the 25 mile hike in 2 days, then drive home Sunday night. It will be a tiring weekend, but fun. I'm hoping to arrange vehicles at each end. The formalities are just now being worked on. Anyone who is interested is definitely welcome.

What a beautiful day. It was great meeting new packers and their family and dogs. The weather was great. I got a little sunburned on my shoulder. I had lots of fun kayaking and playing baseball with the youngsters. Learned of a few more sites to visit on line.
Hope we do this again soon.
BTY: Pepperdog and, we missed you. Did you get lost?
