“Many of you know that I've gone backwards in my approach to gear. I used to have a sub 20# pack and do long distances. I've gotten into basecamping lately, and frankly, have gotten spoiled. I keep asking myself how can I take the luxuries of basecamping out on the open trail. The answer? A mechanical pack. It's dang heavy, but once you get going the machinery takes over. Engineers rule!
