Well, do a simple google search of "DDX" and you come up with this:

by the way, I am not a troll, I'm more like a nemo gnome... I just love the way the product looks and the way its presented. This industry is crammed with people that can't get over this vision they have that whatever they do is so cool and exceptional. Everyone knows which brands they like and which they dont, like a bunch of high school kids sucking up to the popular kids and dismissing the rest.

So you going to post photos of yourself with your love child, The Nemo?

Why do I keep smelling a burning Alps tent? lol....

unfortunately I feel they dont do a good job at showing what their tents are all about in the web site... This is not comparing the price tag and the weight (its not bad either) with other tents out there...

They are way easier to set up than your regular poled tent, watch the video on their website.

The system they came up with for the airsupported makes it much easier to field repair than a poled tent. And so far doesn't seem to show any kind of puncture weakness problems. Actually, it seems the systems is very much like the one they use for kitesurfing kites.

Lastly, there are a lot of little features and elements on the tents, the pumps, and even the stuff sack that show that it is a product that has been very well though out.

In conclusion, if you are prioritized by price and weight (which most people are these days), this is not your tent. But there is a lot to these that is just so new that comparing to other tents out there is like coparing a road bike with a mountain bike.

Hmmmm
I went and studied the website closely..I just do NOT see how a tent weighing 6.25 lbs plus a 4 ounce pump can be seen as innovative?? How many tents on the market do you see for $445 (plus pump)that are 3 season, 2 man tents?
The only thing innovative is people with more $$ than common sense..lol!
There are actually people still out there who WANT a tent that is over 5 lbs? Have fun.......I'll stick with my $95 on sale one pole tent that can handle Cascadian Howlers and weighs 4 lbs.

But anyhoo..I digress...
I have decided to go burn all my lightweight hiking gear and only use heavy stuff. I mean, a 4 lb sleeping bag HAS to be better, right?

unfortunately sarbar has a hard time seeing past the one track mind... weight is not the only thing that matters, that is just the big trend of the moment, its is obvous that you are all trend followers. Go get your ultralight $90 tent, made with cheap stock fabric and stock aluminium poles. You always pay for what you get.

3.25 pounds for a 2 person tent is considered heavy??? that is 1.6 punds per person... im talking hypno.

violin, what kind of answer do you want?, I dont have to repeat myself about this, if you want to think I am trolling go ahead, dont read my posts, if what you are here for is discussion lets talk for real.

I'm afraid you're going to lose this argument. Ultra-lite is the rage. I myself haven't decided if it's all for the best but live and let live. I can say this. I'm going to have a real problem after I carry my heavy 7 lb, no make that 8 full lbs with ground sheet, two-man tent on one of these extended trips out west and then we have a terrible storm. I guess I'll look like the a$$hole I really am when some ultralighter whines about being cold or wet and I just laugh and tell him to do jumping jacks to warm him or herself up. Well if it's a woman I might let her come into my cozy nest. Otherwise they can call Ray and cry.

signed,

glup, you have yet to give a straight answer to Violin's question (which was asked several times by several people). I can only conclude you are evading the question because you are in fact being paid or otherwise compensated to troll boards and try to produce buzz for this tent. Your answers so far:

"by the way, I am not a troll, I'm more like a nemo gnome... I just love the way the product looks and the way its presented"

"sure i have stake, I am the only one who has seen nemo tents in this board..."

Want an answer again, no, I am not afiliated in any way with the company. I have seen the tents once and that was last sumer when they were introduced at the summer OR in Salt Lake City, UT.

Violin, are you one of those people who only reads what they want to? that is not what communication is about. Matt? what are you babbling about, seems like you write the same way you read...

Busted
The summer OR in Salt Lake City, UT was for manufactors, dealers, and press only.
The public was not invited.

AirZone is cool too, mainly for car/motorcycle camping, because the weight is high. The tubes they use are rubber which are much heavier than whatever it is Nemo uses (some kind of clear plastic). They have been around for longer than Nemo as far as I ca tell.

There are probably going to be more and more inflatables out there as the technology is proven and people become exposed to the benefits, no doubt some of the big tent manufacturers are thinking about it (if not working on it right now)
glup
2:08:09 PM
5/11/05

I haven't really seen any benefits of it either.
Anything that requires me to carry gear just to set up my tent is a no go. Takes away from the wine or booze I'm carrying. LOL! See ya at sacco's!

That is right, its not a public event. Probably about 20K people in there. It's a great place to see new products, especially cause most companies launch product at the show.
glup
2:16:56 PM
5/11/05

What about having to carry your poles, they constitute gear that is used to set up the tent. I imagine the pump is to be treated as a part of the tent itself just like the poles are.

Also, I wonder why Nemo makes a poled tent?

Pixie, do the math with me.... One poled thent with two poles consitutes 3 parts, tent, 2 sets of poles. One inflatable is 2 part, tent, pump.

Its all a matter of perception, you are just used to the pole system. A tarp user probably looks at you setting up your poled tent and sees the poles as extra gear.

Stovey and Sarbar, if either of you were a reporter, you'd know you couldn't stand on the arguments either of you made about glup.

sarbar, hey, I call you sarbar, not sarbar1. Lots of people either misspell or just don't want to type numbers. I am called plain old liz a lot. Doesn't mean anything.

stovey, you can't assume some manufacturer didn't let a friend into that show. Flawed logic that glup is necessarily "in" the industry.

Oh yeah and **I** was invited to go to that show in Salt Lake City if I happened to be out there the right time of year. Absolutely does not mean you're in the business.

this all comes from a couple weeks ago. A teacher at a school was apparently suspended for somehow letting a kid bring a gun BARREL and cleaning kit into class. Sounded like the whole school was in an uproar for a bit.

From the info we got (and the school would neither confirm nor deny a suspension), we figured it would make sense for it to be a speech (for a presentation) or science (an experiment) teacher, although not necessarily.

I called up one of the teachers at home. She/he answered. I said, "Hi, I'm blah blah from the local paper." His/her immediate response was, "I have no comment," and he/she hung up. (And remember, I had said nothing about why I was calling)."

I also called the school and found that teacher was not there that day.

Sounds like a good case for using the name? NO! I could have gotten a friend of the actual suspended person, who happened to be home sick, and just didn't want to talk to a reporter.

So we did not use a name.

I expect better methods of deduction next time your guys throw out a theory here. LOL! ;-)

A tarp user probably looks at you setting up your poled tent and sees the poles as extra gear.

And a hammocker looks at them both and says "stupid hikers using poles and pumps; and what's with sleeping on the ground??".

glup=lizs.

I like tents. Period. No one is going to change my mind. Not tarp tents, not single walled tents, not inflatable tents, not hammocks. Regular tents with a rain fly and poles. So there! You aren't going to change my mind. (And yes I do have reasons why I don't like any of those other options. But I'm not here to argue it.)

I'd like to try out one of these Burrito tents. Think Nemo would loan me one for an unbiased evaluation and review here on thebackpacker.com? I bet they loan them to the staff at backpacker.com. I say it's way past time the more experienced, wiser experts here on this site start to see some of the perks that those guys over there get. Hell this site is bigger and better by far than that gearmonger site. BTW I'm not affliated with thebackpacker.com in any way and I don't work for Mountain Hardwear (my brand of choice) so I will be honest about my review.

those tents are the dumbest products i've seen in a while.

those NEMO guys are either complete cons or idiot savant engineers.

either way, i hope they go bankrupt before they swindle too many newbies out of thier cash.
