I haven't committed to the Old Rag trip yet, and I'm thinking about joining you guys. I have to be in Stroudsburg, Pa by mid afternoon Sunday, and I don't know if I can do that from Virginia.

anywho, when are you guys meeting Sat morning? You're gonna walk up to the lean-to, dump some gear, walk back down, leave a car and then drive over to Maplecrest to start hiking? I did the Blackeads with Artex 2 years ago. It's a nice hike, and if I remember, it was an easy walk up to the lean-to. The descent from Blackhead to the lean-to is steep and nasty though. I haven't done Windham so it would be nice to add that to my list.

I'll know for sure tomorrow night what I'll do. I assume snowshoes will be in order still, and howz the weather looking?

Umm we are going to drop a car at the Maple crest trailhead then drive into the Bativa trailhead park hike to the leanto drop some gear then hike the three peaks, then Sunday hike out over windham.
I am assuming snowshoes will be needed, and maybe crampons.

There is still quit a bit of snow on the slopes at Hunter but the resort cam on their website makes it look like there is not much elsewhere on the mtn.

Weather for Hunter Partly cloudy both Saturday and Sunday low of 29* Saturday night, high of 48* on Sat and 52 on Sunday.”

“lemmee see if I have this right. When you drop off the gear at the lean-to, you'll continue up the mountain, doing Blackhead first, finishing up Sat at Maplecrest. Drive back to Bativa and hike up to the lean-to for Sat night?

Sun morning, hike back down to the car, drop off gear and hike from there to Windham Peak and back?”

“Ahhh nope. Saturday morning we are going to meet at Maple crest trailhead( actually it is the trail head to the north of the road past Maplecrest), leave a car. Then drive to the batavia trailhead just a little down the road. Hike into that leanto drop some gear, hike up to Thomas cole Mtn, turn around hike back to the leanto. Sleep. Get up in the morning and hike back up to the blue trail head north over Windham peak.

If you look at the map that Sacco posted a 3:39 the leanto we are staying at is at the second L in Catskill We are parking one car at the white flag the other car will be at eh trailhead at the bottom of the mustard yellow trail in the upper left hand corner of the map with the dots.”

“Dang, that's an interesting route. I've been to both those trailheads and the lean-to so I know where you are talking about. It's your route that confused me.

“oh wait... you WON'T leave a car at the end of the Black Dome trail on Barnum road, but rather on Peck road at the end of the Elm Ridge Trail?”
