great western divide

“awhile back bison posted a 7 day trip into kings canyon. it started at crescent meadow and looped back to crescent meadow. went thru upper hamilton lake, little five lakes, redwood meadow etc,
taking some newbies and wonder it this is a hard hike or somewhat mellow.
any input would be appreciated. never been there before but sounds and looks awesome.”

“I expect this to be a difficult trip, any 7 day trip would probably be a bit much for newbies I would think. There are a couple of big climbs, including Black Rock Pass. Embear and I will be there July 10 - 16.”

“Find the Sierrapalooza 2003 thread. That trip covered quite a bit of the same terrain. If those newbies carry too much weight, they'll be hurting.”
